All of my Ken Bowles bantam Reds left yesterday. I kept just on trio of Reds Bantams. Thy're half Bowles, half Mohawk. After nearly 25 years with the Red Bantams it was a tough decision but I'm really focused on the Dominique large fowl now. The Reds went to a friend so I can always get some back if I weaken.
He knows what they are & will treat them accordingly.

Ken Bowles, is he any relation to Tim Bowles the poultry judge in western Ohio that shows with Dick Horstman and Jack Tickle?
I keep seeing Ken's name pop up here and there and always wondered if they were relation.

I don't think so. Ken was from western NY & he was one of the prime developers of the Rhode Island Red Bantam. Ken died quite some rime ago & I was able to get some of his line from an old fellow who had worked for him. As far as anyone knew the ones I had were the last of the line. I've shared them with a lot of people over the years but I think most of them got crossed with other strains. I did a couple of out crosses over the years but always kept some pure. A bit of chicken history I hated to let go of but I have only so much room, time & energy. As I get older energy becomes more of a factor.

What a excellent example of the production and stndard rhode island reds in chick format for the beginner to look at. If the chicks are not dark like these they are not the old fashion standard reds that where so popular many years ago.

I am so glad that you got some of Larry Rameys eggs. Could you show us the post on ebay that he had or send me a personel message of it.

I think this is one of the best finds from last year in old strains we found around the country. Fourth year old strain from Calif.

Has any one else got any of his eggs or plan on getting chicks from him latter in the spring? bob
