I'm due to pick up 12 red chicks next month from a lady pine grove referred to me.
I'm also interested in finding some other lines of reds if anyone can help me out

I just got back home from picking up my new R.I.R's from the lady Pine Grove refreed me to she really has some nice looking birds.
here they are at 3 weeks old ( she held them for me till I was able to pick them up personally.)
Sure hope they are worth the 4 1/2 hour drive

Nice chicks

Wanting to buy some top heritage RIR. Would like to find ready to lay pullets, but will buy chicks if needed. Will like to pay no more than $15 for the pullets and under $10 for the chicks.

Hi Jonathan,
I dont know very many breeders that will sell top pullets for 15.00 that price is more straight run top chicks.

Maybe I should just stick to the hatchery stock then, We just have a backyard flock anyway, was just trying to find some of these great birds to add, then maybe one day go straight RIR.

If your not going to be showing them then you really dont need top stock then what you can do is get some from Duane Urch, Shady Lane Poultry or even Eagles Nest.

Thanks chris, even though I'm not showing, I still want top stock. I'm very pickey when it comes to my chickens. I want the best that I can afford.

Start with Duanes and raise them out and see where they are strong and need improving them get some eggs, chicks or a trio from another breeder to improve them, thats my plan.

I am replacing a hatchery strain of RIRs. (Ideal)
