The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

I want to add a few more Delawares in the spring, my jumbo egg layers.

Also will be ready then for my RC RIRs . Either eggs or chicks. I am in Northern MI but can drive to western PA, as well as through much of Ohio.

Jim what part of Pa are you in?
Way down in the SW corner. I'm about 65 miles south of Pittsburgh

Yep Jim's navigational skills(GPS) were off a tad that day when he stopped and settled down, just a few more feet and he'd been in across the line down in God's country.

Yepper Jeff, Just about 30 miles from Morgantown W.Va. lol I can be to the W.Va line in about 15 minutes. Not to far from W.Va, Ohio and Maryland. Depends on which side of the bed I wake up on. ha,ha

Jim is the RIR police! Lol!!!

By the way Jim.....do you have any other breeds now other than your Reds? I'm seriously considering cutting back on some different breeds I have and concentrating on my Reds. I think that I might dump my NH's and my BR's and a bunch of these bantams I have.

Chris
Still laughing about this Chris. Was reading back through some of the posts and I had to laugh when I saw this again this morning.

Ask and you shall receive. lol I just hatched these out this past Wednesday. I have a few 4 month old's that I haven't taken many pictures of. This has been a terrible summer. I lost lots of young birds. First it was so hot then cold then hot then rain. Geez. didn't get to much accomplished with my birds this year. Now the fall bugs are chirping at night so it seems we are going to have an early winter. Oh well, I guess it is what it is. I'm hoping to get more Nelson's hatched this winter. I've really been trying to get my RC Underwood's built up a little. I hatched 10 out that a very close friend of mine took so I hatched out 3 more but with only 3 hens it will take a while. lol Second picture is 3 Nelson and 3 10 day old RC Underwood taken today.

The boy below is a Nelson 20 week old on this picture. I took this shot last Wednesday.

Don't see much on the Don Nelson line HRIRs on here but just wanted some of the newcomers on here to know there is another line of HRIRs out there.
I got a personel message a few minutes ago from two people one asking who would I go with for SC RI Reds and Barred Rock Large Fowl.

In R I Reds Don Nelson line is a good one but I don't think has any on his yards anymore. There are some folks that have his line and got chicks from him or a friend who he farmed his birds out to. Its a good line if you can get some chicks and I would have ten shipped to my house in a heart beat. One of the top lines in the USA over the last 15 years.

There are other lines out there and good ones. So many willing to share so get you some from folks on this forum if the can spare them or get on their list for this spring. I am on a list and as excited as a Kid at Christmas. Remember make this venture simple. Don't get caught up on line breeding, feed, color just raise them up and try to keep them from getting killed by varmint's or dogs. Don't worry about the color when these guys are baby chicks you got to wait till the have adult feathers. Keep it simple and you all will all do just fine.

woos this nice young man?
