The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

I think there are some Don Nelson large fowl in Penn I know a guy who knows a guy who sold him a bunch of them. So don't worry there alive and kicking. I got a message from Gloria and I thought she said she still had some from Dons line. Maybe not many.

One thing you got to learn sometimes folks don't have time with their family's to fool with us with chicks or eggs this year and then maybe next year or latter in the spring if they have time. So if that happens you move on to some one else. That is why it is wise to put your orders in now or at least tell them you are interested to do this. In fact you might want to order some single nest boxes for shipping and tell them I will ship you a box and when you hatch ten little chicks put them in the box when they are a week to ten days old and give this label to the post office lady when you go to the post office and ship them to me. Its a lot easier than wrapping and packing stupid eggs for these busy people. They may just do it for you.

I got three boxes coming for me right now. One for ten chicks and two for a two pair of my old red bantams from Arkansas.

Glad you can Multi Task Jimmy. Tomorrow night at three pm its the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Texas. See if I can do two things at once.

Hi, I am so pleased to say I got just the birds I was looking for from Steven in Georgia (I'm not sucking up to him haha, I know he reads this site). After identifying what I wanted et al, he helped me get the best selection available. Steven is a good guy and I look forward to a long working relationship. I am not sure if people know how valuable this site is in providing information, contacts, advice, pictures and about anything else one could gain from the internet. Thank you Bob for your articles, feedback and suggestions that helped me along. I have a cockerel and 3 pullets that are fine animals. My intention is to reduce my flock of layers and concentrate on raising the best birds I can toward the SOP. Just thought I would share my joy with you and the readers on this site.
Dennis I am glad you are happy with your birds and I hope you have much success with them.Thank you for the nice comments.

If you can be a little patient we might be able to find you some with in 400 miles of New Jersey and you could get a nice young trio or old trio from someone. We are not like a hatchery or have eggs laying in a nest to ship to people . Most of us only breed our birds from Jan to April and we break up our mattings. We may have surplus chicks left over at two to four months of age and many have driven to breeders homes and picked up some nice birds this way. I am calling my old friend and current Sec of the Rock Club this afternoon I will ask him if he knows who lives in that area who may have some good ones. He lives in NJ. bob

Very nicely put. It makes most of the sellers feel pretty good when the folks buying their birds are satisfied with what they got. Now you got to watch for to many toes on those birds but other then that they should be okay. "Hey,, I'm just kidding with you." I'm glad you got some of these good red's to start your venture. The fun has just begun. I'm also glad that you enjoy this forum. There is more information on this thread then any of us could absorb with one reading. The copy, paste and save feature on your computer will be very valuable. Some that you think is really important to you should even be printed out just in case you have a computer crash. Or save it to an external hard drive. lol I learned this from experience. lol You bought from a good guy. lol Hey Steven, I'll be watching for my pay pal payment to come in. ha,ha,ha
Welcome to BYC.

Thanks Jim
You will have to call Matt to find out how to get rid of the extra toes. Oh and the CHECK is in the mail....

Was just (heresy I know) reading up on the Buckeye thread... and they were talking about the "feel" of the bird, not just the shape given by the feathers... what should a great HRIR LF "feel" like? :)
