Your welcome.

Another thought for you is to print the information off and then put them in a binder (like the old trapper keeper) and keep it out in the poultry house. That way you will have the information out in the poultry house when you need it..

Yes, I will do that.

Better yet .... why don't you just come over and help me!

One of the best description of a Reds color I found in The Rhode Island Chronicles and it compared the R.I. Red to the parts of a old pipe, a pack of Prince Albert pipe tobacco and a Binge Cherry.

It said that leg and beak color should resemble the color of the bowl and mouthpiece of the pipe. The shade or depth of the horn color you want is that of a well-used old-time corncob pipe. The true under color matches the color of a pack of Prince Albert pipe tobacco. If slate or smut is used, it should be the color of a totally smoked bowl of tobacco. In the vegetable section of the grocery store, is where you will find the true quill color and that is the dark blood-red shade of Binge Cherries.

Any camera will give you "off color" the same with involvement.
Too much sunlight can make your bird look "light" in color in-turn too little of light will make your birds look dark..

Would someone mind to post some pics of REAL RIR eggs? I know the "almost white" eggs from my prod. RIR's is surely diluted by layer blood. They are HUGE, but almost white.

ok ??? 4 u experts... i am on the list to get 5 (2 roo's 3 hens) RC RIR's in about a month or 2 from now... from a lady hear in AR... she has some birds that to me look as good as the pic's that chris posted of his birds... now 4 my ??? she has had them for 3 years the first year she got them the rooster was allmost infertille she set about 100 eggs got 3 chicks of witch only one hen lived to be an adult... the second year she ordered a adult rooster from somewhere and got him late in the summer got about 30 chicks from him then all of a suden no more firtile eggs... so she had to wait tell her young ones grew up before she got any more chicks...

in talking to her and a bunch of the more expiranced breeders in our local poulty club they said that the rose comb birds have a problem with firtilety and that she should find a real nice SCRIR bird to add to her breeding program to help fix this... and that most of the chicks would be rose comb if you do this...

right now she has about 10 roosters and is having no problems with fertilety...

im wondering if i should try to get a few SC birds from one of the ppl y'all have show on hear to add to my breeding program when i get the RC's from her... i am mostly intrested in the RC not SC

i dont know what bloodline she has will find out before i get them...

thanks Elias

sry about the bad spelling...

I see if I can help with your questions.
There is some talk about "Rose Combs" breeds having fertility problems I have never seen it in my "Pure" Rose comb stock. My Rose combs have very good fertility in fact in the past 8 years I have been running around a 90% hatch rate and the other RC Red breeders I have talked to also say that the "Rose Combs breeds having fertility problems" is a bunch of hype. I think that most of her (the breeder you are talking about) problems might be do to improper breeding or even just a fluke.

As far as crossing Rose Comb with Single Comb, that is fine if you are not showing them OR you don't mind a long ongoing process when it comes to correcting there comb.
The combs of the offspring out of a Rose Comb/ Single Comb cross will suffer greatly in that they will have "Hollow Centers", Multiple Spikes, to much height of the over all comb, and over all poor combs. Back about 5 years ago I this cross with a superior Single comb cock bird that was out of pure Denis Myers stock that I had got off Jack Tickle and a excellent Rose comb hen that was pure Dick Horstman stock and to this day I still get bad combs now and then out of the offspring.

I have found that the color of eggs are going to vary from breeder to breeder as well as from hen to hen.
Here is a picture of some of my R.I. Red eggs.
