Sour Crop is a fungal infection so it can be treated with monistat 7. They get a piece cut off of the suppository in the morning and evening. You can get them to eat it by pulling up on the comb and putting the piece into the right side of the mouth. That is where the esophagus is.

Sour crop will lead to vent gleat.

Well gave the last two some monistat this morning but now one of them is dying and will check on the one still alive shortly, guess they were too far gone when I realized what was wrong. So far my others seem to be okay, these got sick so fast I didn't know what was happening. I'm checking all my pens to see if any of the others are not feeling well. It is real hot here and I'm trying to be sure everyone has fresh water with ACV in it. So that's the way it goes sometimes.

I've lost three so far one left and he seems to be holding his own wanted something to eat tonight, I gave him another dose of monistat. They were 10 wks old, the pullets are ok in their coop so must be in this coop that I'm having problems, will know in the morning if he makes it through the night. Thanks

Well still have the one hanging in there. I started him on Corid this morning and he is still with me so far checked on him a few minutes ago and made him drink some of the water with the med in it. I saw this morning he looked like he had pooped a little blood so said I'll cure him or kill him so I'm doctoring him up good, he wants to eat a little so made him a wet mash to peck at, doesn't eat much. Thanks for your help

saw him poop and it was runny but not bloody and I made him drink some more corid water from a syringe he was fussing at me and I did see him pecking at his wet mash when I was locking up everybody tonight so I'm hoping he'll make it, hate to see anything sick.

More than likely the peach peelings blocked off the opening to the bottom of the crop. I've had some get long grass, hay, baling twine, wood chips and all sorts of things wadded up in their crop and they wind up starving to death.

I was thinking that too. I have also massaged the crop like I've been reading on BYC and I also started him on some of the Corid he has been taking the monistat, brought him in last night we had a freaky cold front come through and it was 58 this morning and I knew he was going to get cold, their chicken house is real open air so took him back out this morning and he is moving around and acting like he wants out of the coop so hopefully he is on the road to recovery. He still has that dull color to his feathers but as soon as I see his comb start to get some color back in it I know he will be feeling better. All my other birds seem to be okay, I'm looking at them hard to see if someone is looking under the weather but so far so good. Thanks for all yall's help

Sick chickens go hypothermic--get some heat on him and try to keep it at 85 degrees.
