Back in this thread, a couple years ago, the OP, Bob Blosl talked a lot about just meeting up with people. Meet them at a poultry show nearest you, that kind of thing. Bob also used to talk about getting in your car and driving to go get the birds you really, truly have your heart set on. Of course, with gas sometimes pegging $4 a gallon, such long trips don't make a lot of sense, but if life was taking you past someone anyhow? Sure. Why not. A two tank of gas round trip? Might as well splurge for the shipping.
But if you're buying more mature birds, the cost is really going to get high on shipping. Meeting up with someone begins to make more sense if you're talking about a half dozen 8 month old birds.
