The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

I am totally stunned by this news. I have been off the grid so to speak ( gone deer hunting)

Bob was a true ambassador to the RIR and thru his passion has helped many get their start with them, including me.
Becuase of his work they are now in the hands of many more people than they were a couple years ago.

I wil miss his post and our conversations.

I found out about Mr. Blosl's passing yesterday while at the APA show near Battleground. Completely scrambled my mind. I was there to pick up 2 HRIR breeding pairs, originally Underwood SC, through budsbirds... I was SO looking forward to taking pictures, and posting them, and sending him excited PM's about them!

Where you are, Mr. Blosl
May they all score 100+
Rhode Island bliss...

Prayers for Mrs. Blosl and his family. Hard to lose such a good heart.

Gosh, I used to have German Shepherd Dogs. Now I have Chihuahua's.

Let me tell you as you probably know, those Chihuahuas think they are as big as that GSD. And as to the bantams, had those when I was young and enjoyed them like I do the RIRs. And think if I can figure out where to put another pen, might get some more.

I forgot to post the chicken tail picture yesterday.

Australorp, Fogel RIR Pullet, Blue Australorp and Australorp.

LOL, Truer words were never spoken. These little guys are not little in their minds.
And for the bantams, I always thought they were absolutely the cutest things that I'd ever seen. The pair that I had earlier this year were really nice. I ordered them for someone then then didn't take them. I gave them to a friend of mine. They were really a nice pair of RIR bantams from Bill Ziehm. Don't know if I have his name spelled right or not. If you are wanting broody's these little guys can't be beat.

The color and the spread of the tail looks good to me on that RIR Ron. Doesn't look like there is any lacing there which is good.

I have two from last year and this pullet. I also have a very nice Cockerel(See Avatar- he was 6 weeks younger then). I hope to breed them in the spring.

Lual has three pullets and two Cockerels from the same hatch. The last pictures she shared were amazing! I hope we get to see more pictures of them soon.

Hello Ron,

I will post some photos as soon as they complete their drastic molt which they have been going through. Their new feathers have beautiful, deep, shiny mahogany colour. Dear Bob Blosi gave me advice on what to feed which made all the difference..

Unfortunately, I have only two hens; the third one was killed by the Bobcat on the same day when my beloved, gorgeous head rooster lost his life fighting to protect his flock. Now, I have a trio who are developing quite nicely, and looking lovely.

I am sorry to hear that!

Let me know if something happens to the last Rooster. I still have some living on the Egg Farm.

Thank you, Ron; how kind of you! I hope I no longer go through the predator problems which I have faced lately. The Bobcat will not be coming back! For the last couple of months, we have been quite busy securing our place against the predators.
