Hi Matt, Just now getting my messages. My computer has been in the shop. No, I didn't get my birds from Kenny. I don't know Kenny Wayne. I am very new to raising chickens, have little knowledge on the Mohawk line or who breeds &/or sells them. We got our birds from a local breeder here in MS. He had hatched some eggs & sold the chicks during the spring & had only 5 chicks left in June. He had decided to discontinue this line & when we showed up looking for Rhode Island Reds, those are the ones he had. We were not familiar with the Mohawk line but since that was all he had, we bought them. Since then, I have researched & read about the line & it seems fate smiled upon us in a big way. Seems we were in the right place at the right time. We ended up with 3 roosters & 2 pullets. We are hoping to find more pullets to expand our flock. Do you still breed & sell the Mohawk Rhode Island Reds?

I have never been to the show in Florida. I'm sure I would enjoy it. I'm still learning about the line & the qualities of the breed. I was told our birds were descended from an old line out of Georgia. After reading about the breed, I wonder if that was Mrs. Donaldson's line. I know so little about the line that I wouldn't know how to tell but I do know the breeder would not have told me such if he didn't know it or believe it to be true. I hope to share pictures as soon as I can take a few of them. The updates on my phone have taken up so much "space" that I can no longer even take a picture.

I have RIR roosters for sell too. I just sold 15 today as chicken dinners. We have already processed enough for our family so any non breeders are getting sold as fast as I can.

Matt, I would love to talk to you about your birds for sale. I would also like to ask a question. I have been reading about the Mohawk RIR breed & saw where some of the birds have amber color eyes & some have red eyes. What is the difference in these 2 lines?

Leggs should be yellow horn. The body does not make a brick so the shape is off. The color is light too.

I think they are what is called a production red--At some time they came from a Hatchery. They are likely very nice chickens but would not do well at an APA Poultry show that judges based on the Standard Of Perfection for the RIR breed.
