Well, here is my seven month old cockerel. Detail photos. Hackles, wing, tail, underside of tail etc. The sun was waining so to be clear there is no red on the underside of his tail. You have seen him standing, and width already. I would love to hear his strengths and weaknesses from more experienced eyes. Thanks!

Here are the four hens from my hatch that I would love critiques of to get other eyes on them. Three have obvious green in the hackles. Please note the sun was going down so it made the hackles look even darker. Number five does not have the green.

Thank you very much . I'm only bringing one red hen as I'm not going there just to show, but it will be interesting to see how she places. The most fun will probably be seeing everyone else and their great birds. I will be washing my bunch on Tuesday. I find that 4-5 days is best for the oils to replenish. I know more people wait longer, but I use an all natural aloe soap that doesn't take too many oils out of their feathers.

There so much to do in such a short time. APA meeting, Red's Club meeting, friends, looking and enjoying the birds. Seven thousand birds to be precise. LOL Seminars abound. I always enjoy P. Allen Smith's, to be honest.

You can manipulate them with light but you can't change their genetics.  No matter their age...the only thing that will alter their natural process is artificial light.

They are also just over 7 months old.  Some pure bred birds take 8-9 months to get to point of lay.

I don't show much at "show closer to me" as it takes about as much work to prepare and I'd rather travel to the major shows. Knoxville is my farthest at 12 hours drive time. Columbus National will be around 7.5 hours.

There are solid shows "near" you @daxigait but you now better understand what "near" means to me. LOL
Seriously, there are very good shows within an afternoon's drive. Not a problem. You can find them by state, or region, or by month of the year. Great site to bookmark. Lots of prep tips as well. Tutorials on What To Expect, or How To Wash Your Birds, etc.
