“What are you saying?“ Man-unmasked screamed.Take never stopped beaming, even as he stared at the mans disfigured face full of scars, his flames illuminating the trauma in the mans skin. There wasn’t a glimpse of remorse in Take’s three eyes as he pinned him against the wall with a single hand on his neck “You’re absolutely stunning, your face, completely ethereal.” he tilted his head allured by what his eyes were seeing, but wasn’t completely distracted by Trintan attempting to escape. His tail whipped around, wrapping itself around Trintans ankle and flinging the man into the nearest wall without batting an eye. “Let me go now. Or else you’ll be seeing a wall in your future.”
Trintan cringed into his pale skinny self against the wall. He pointed a bone-like finger at the other man. “It’s him, he has the keys,” he said.
Only one person? He thought skeptically. "Ok, yes, I guess. He put himself in danger intentionally. So we could get away. Don't you think he'll be pissed if we go back to res-" he stopped mid-sentence knowing that what he was saying wasn't accurate. If thhey went back and actually managed to get him out of there he'd be relieved and happy. "If we go back, and get caught." He tried rewording it, but still he knew it would be easier to keep going in that place with a friend.
Kipp looked down the pathway they were following. They had almost made it to the end. The forest wasn't very far from where they were, and it would be a lot easier to travel in there than the cliff had been.
"Let's get to the trees first. Then we can figure out what we're doing." He said, it would likely be easier to climb back up in the woods, with plants to grab on to. And it would get them out of the rain. Which, though not particularly heavy, was starting to soak through his clothes.
“I don’t wanna go back,” Noah whined, tears rolling down his already wet face. The rain had helped to clean some of the dirt off of his face. He sat under the trees, which weren’t as thick as the Papercutter Forest, and let rain and a fading ray of sunlight through every once in a great while. Finally under the trees Kipp knelt down and let Noah off his back.
"We have two little kids who can't go back there. They need food and water and a dry place to sleep." He could use a place to sleep too, but he didnt care where, the squishy ground under his feet would do.
"Chion should be around here somewhere with the others. If they were together they'd be a lot safer. We can't just leave them on their own."
But Noah still despised being in the darkness, after seeing the sun for the first time in days. And he liked the fresh, warm feeling of rain on his skin, after spending time in the dusty dark. But what he hated the most about the forest is that a we-sa had taken him here, at the beginning of his woes.
“Can we stay out?”
