The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

“Awesome,” Korim said, stepping into the now illuminated cave. It was enormous and rough-hewn, and the light reflected on the walls, blinking off gold and jewelry. It wasn’t as enormous as Korim expected -the dragon had slim pickings when it came to visitors, and the travelers that did come usually didn’t carry shiny bits with them- but while Korim could smell the stench of steaming dragon manure and rot from some other waste cave, this room was impeccably clean. Dragons liked to keep their hoard tidy. (Well, everything in the room except the hoard. They tended to dump that on the ground.)
Timit fluttered back from his far-away cowering now that he knew that Korim wasn’t going to die. Helpful, I know. Treasure!“ he exclaimed, and immediately began picking up the gold and jewelry and weighting himself down so much he could no longer fly, then reluctantly let some of it go, hugging what he could carry to his chest.
“Whoa” Ellie stared in awe. “Is that treasure? Like out of pirate movies and fantasy books?” She asked.

Aria, who had finally caught up, stared in wonder kneeling to touch it. “I have-oh my-I’m lost for words” she said quietly. She stood staring at it amazed. “Does the cave go any further?” She asked

Kylan's eyes got big, staring at the gold and precious gems with awe. "Whoa... That's, that's real gold... Guess they really do keep hoards, too." He gave a small laugh, glancing back at some of his fellow earth-ers. "Bro, you could almost pay half your student loans with this!"
Kevin followed her gaze to the muddy ball of fur. He sat the chickens down and moved next to Tru, looking at Lilith for permission to touch him before carefully resting his hand on Tru’s head. Even in the short time they had been together, Kevin knew just how much the dog meant to her.
He closed his eyes, his hand turning green. He had healed more animals than humans, and found it easier to heal something so small. Still, it was a little more difficult to heal something he never had before, although not impossible.
Kevin focused, feeling the magic work it’s way through Tru. He could feel his pulse speeding up to a normal, stronger pace, and let out a small breath in relief.
Kevin opened his eyes, glancing at Lilith. “He should be feeling better. Keep an eye on him though, okay? I don’t know how Eve’s power works, and if it will keep affecting him.” He said. He didn’t want to worry her, but he thought she would need to be prepared in case something happened, although Kevin hoped that wouldn’t be the case.
Lilith looked at him, evidently surprised, having long been unused to such acts of kindness.
She could feel the dog becoming stronger and gave a thin lipped smile, glancing down at Tru and nodding to Kevin's words. "Alright." She murmured, about to thank him when Tru's eyes flickered open and he sat up, immediately panting and licking Lilith's unprotected face. She gave a wheezing laugh, pushing the dog off her and beginning to scratch his chin, something she knew the collie loved.
She looked back to Kevin, still smiling. "Kevin, thank you. I..." She paused, stumbling over what to say. "It means a lot to me, more than you know. Thank you."

“Yes, if you want to wade through dragon dung,” Korim said seriously.
Cam gazed at the sparkling jewelry. “Is this just... free? For the taking?” On one hand, she hated seeing stuff of such value left to waste, but she also didn’t wish to carry it with her. “It doesn’t belong to anybody, right?”
“Nobody alive, anyway,” Korim said grimly.

“Are you kidding? I could buy a house of my own” Aria grinned rubbing her hands together, “but I’m not weighing myself down with gold. No point”

Ellie shivered. She looked at the gold longingly but shook her head, “no way. How do we know it’s not cursed or enchanted? Or that we won’t be followed back to earth by someone who claims the gold is theirs?”

“I agree,” Cam said. “It feels too much like stealing when it belonged to someone else before the dragon took it.” She dug a necklace out of the pile and dangled it from her brown fingers. “Still, I think Eve should get something, in reward for killing the dragon. Then we can always look at it and remember her as the dragon slayer.” She smiled warmly at Eve, a teasing glint in her eye. Should I really be joking with someone with death breath? What if she doesn’t like teasing?
Korim didn’t seem to be bothered by ethics or possible enchantments and pocketed a couple of coins. “It’s free money,” he said with a grin. (We must remember that he was remarkably strong and any burden felt like little to nothing to him.) “Though I suppose, if we get captured on this expedition, it’ll be pointless, they’ll just take it from us. We’ll be dead. Then we won’t need it to pay college loans-whatever those are- and buy houses. But if you don’t want any, to each their own, though dragons aren’t known for laying curses and enchantments on things... where would you get that notion? Anyways, it wasn’t such an ill fortune to land upon the dragon cave, since we have Eve, anyways,” he nodded at Eve, who seemed to cringe from all the attention she was suddenly getting. “It’s warm, dry, and spacious, the dragon’s heat is slow to recede.” For indeed, the heat of the dragon remained in the cave, preventing them from catching a wet chill.

Eve smiled at Cam, she winced as Ellie, Cam and Korim’s eyes were suddenly on her. She had never really been one to stand in the spotlight and grab all the attention, that had always been her younger sisters job. Well now she was getting attention and she wasn’t so sure how to react to it.
”Have you never seen movies? Like Indiana Jones? There is always a catch” Ellie protested “are you not in the slightest bit worried there could be traps? Maybe I’m just being overly cautious but I’m not taking any gold.”

Kevin shook his head, standing up. “I’m glad I could help him,” he said, offering his hand to help Lilith up. “Come, let’s go find the others.” He swung his bag and gun over his torso, holding the strap and walking out of the rain and into the cave.
He abruptly stopped, his jaw dropping at the amount of treasure that scattered the floor. Coins, jewelry, encrusted gold boxes. He had never seen so much gold and silver in the same area.
Kevin blinked a few times, brushing a wet strand of hair out of his face and taking a few steps forward. “Incredible,” he whispered, glancing back at Lilith before heading deeper in.
He stopped in front of a small box, carefully opening it. Inside was a small golden ring, which looked like it had been around for centuries. It was dirty, but once it was clean it would’ve been stunning. He used his thumb to wipe off some of the grime, frowning at the delicately carved cursive words. He knew it was in Portsmouth, and he understood it was some sort of love message. Whoever this ring was intended for must’ve been one lucky person. Kevin thought, tucking it into his pocket. Once he got a chance, he planned to tie it to his necklace with his other ring.
Kevin turned, looking at the deceased dragon. Closing his eyes, he murmured something in Russian, before turning away. It was a shame such an eloquent beast had to be slain in such a way.
Heading further into the cave, he could feel the warmth of the dragon still clinging to the walls. He doubted they would catch a cold, even though they were wet. It didn’t take long to find Kylan’s glowing form, along with Aria and a few people he didn’t remember the names of. “Hey,” he said, jogging to catch up to them.

Phew, she didn’t smite me, Cam thought. But she felt sorry for the girl, who seemed uncomfortable under all the stares. Imagine how insecure you’d be, having a power like that. I got pretty lucky.

“DON’T TOUCH IT!” Cam screamed. “Rings found in caves... bad. You probably just lengthened our journey tenfold. Throw it out!”
