The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

(half resurrect)
Hana eventually returned to the house from her outing, bringing along a couple apples in her shirt for the others. It wouldn’t feed every mouth, but it was a decent snack, or it could be turned into something more. Apple pie perhaps, but Hana could not be trusted to cook that, well basically anything that required more than five steps. She made sure to remove her dirtied footwear before entering the home and set down her collected apples on the kitchen counter. She glanced around briefly, “What is there for lunch..?” her question directed at anyone around.

Aella darted into the pen, closing the gate behind her. "I don't know," she hissed back, unbothered. She didn't mind breaking rules. "Just don't get caught."
She crouched down, being eyed by the chickens, a particular white one laughing her eye. "Look, it's Spicy Chica." She pointed to the white one closest to her, but she wasn't sure if it was actually her, for there were several white ones.
Ciro swept a cursory glance out across the yard. It seemed empty enough- which was an extremely threatening realization in itself.
"Aye," was the only thing he thought was going to escape his drying lips, then miraculously came up with, "Bet you can get her."
Steeling himself, Ciro settled down into a catcher's squat. As if all he had to do was keep an open hand.
And then he lunged.
So did the red hen.
Ciro? Dirt in the face.
Hen? Score.

Aella immediately took it as a challenge, turning towards the chicken that was looking at her. She waited until the chicken turned her head, and shot her arms around, clamping the shrieking birds wings against its body.
She brought it to her chest, just barely holding it properly, wincing as it struggling against her and turned back to Ciro, startled to find him fallen. The chicken fell from her grasp, darting off. "You missed," she pointed out as monotone as she could, but a grin crept through. "The chicken won."

"Ashira, Blair come on, let's go." He said bending down to pick up the tiny sleeping girl.

"I don’t know where it goes, but as long as it's away from here I don’t really care." He said, stepping through to the other side, stumbling awkwardly and somehow landing on his feet as he fell through a far too small mirror on the other side. He only glanced briefly at the grey haired stranger holding the mirror. Worriedly checking his surroundings for anything familiar good or bad. The piles of metal objects, sparkling in an unknown light source were a complete shock. He’d never seen a place like this before.

Somewhere nearby he heard tiny Kyle’s voice drawing his attention away, “Child labor place? Take! You’re awesome!” Take was here grinning smugly down at Kyle, with a frustrated Fred standing next to him, a scowl on his face, as he started chewing Take out for taking all the credit.

A far less annoying feminine voice came from behind him.

”Kipp... did they... cut your wings?” Kipp turned at his name, nearly dropping the tiny faun girl when he saw Cam. He didn't drop her, hugging the little girl to his chest instead as he stared in disbelief.

Cam, in a pretty blue dress standing next to the grey haired guy, and Noah standing next to her crying into a fistful of her skirt. "I'm still asleep?" He whispered, the pain he was feeling would say otherwise, but it seemed impossible that he’d see her again. "Cam?"

“Where did they take you?” Cam asked, stepping closer to him and goggling at the adorable fawn-child in his hands, brushing the long strands of hair from the child's face.

"Uhh, I don't really kn-" His mumbling was cut off by her excited squeak.

“None of us are dead!” she squealed, a huge grin spreading across her face as she suddenly pulled him into a hug. Heat rose in his cheeks as she pulled him in. He wished he could have hugged her back, but accepted leaning his head against hers would do. "Yeah, we're ok."

“You don’t know what happened to you?” Cam asked, dropping her arms and tilting her head to the side. “What did they do to your wings? I’m so sorry about that... are you hurt? Does it hurt?”

"No, I do." He answered studying her face as she pulled away. Dismissing the idea that she had any interest in him besides proximity.
"I'm..." He shook his head gently, looking down at his toes. "Fred's hurt worse than I am."

“What happened?” Cam asked again, pressing him for the details he didn’t want to give. Her eyes searched the dimly lit cavern locating Fred nearby who had given up on his argument with Take and sat himself on the floor instead. “Fred, do you need any medical attention?” She asked, going over to him. Kipp followed realizing that Noah had vanished to another part of the cave to mess with stuff. That kid always seemed to have energy, probably capable of getting himself in trouble in a locked padded room. Kipp shrugged dismissing her questions again. She seemed preoccupied with Fred anyway.Beside Fred was the man who’d been next to him in the cave before, with several other sleeping kids next to him. That would work as a place to set down the sleeping dead weight in his arms.

“Hmm? Oh no just some water to get the blood off” Fred responded.

“Oh. Well there’s loads of it out there,” Cam waved vaguely at the downpour outside. “Care for a little shower?” she asked, a crooked smile crossing her face.

Kipp moved to set the little girl down next to Grafe, rolling his eyes at Fred's answer. "You’re joking right? You had a fever this morning. Go track down that big Russian guy and get him to patch you up before you die."

“I’ll be fine.” Fred said, rolling his eyes back at him dramatically. “I can always get something for my back when I get home.”

“Fever?” Cam echoed. “That doesn’t sound like something water can fix.”

“I’m fine. Seriously!” Fred said brushing off their concern.

"You're freaking kidding!" Kipp growled as Cam left to take care of Noah who’d started yelling about something. He stood with a scowl on his face, completely done with Fred's insufferable lack of common sense. "Get up." He demanded, grabbing Fred's arm and dragging the 11 year old to his feet before he was able to stand on his own. "You're going to get healed! Stop being so stupid!" Kipp dragged Fred over to Kevin despite his protests and pouting, practically throwing the sulking kid in Kevin's lap.

"I'm fine!" Fred insisted whining yet again to Kevin who was looking between Kipp and Fred, startled by their sudden appearance.

"He's not fine." Kipp said angrily, contradicting him, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring down at Fred. "And I'm not leaving until you're healed. So stop complaining!"

Kevin who to this point had barely interacted with Kipp shrugged and shook his head. He didn't know why Kipp was so worked up about it, and aside from the fact that he was already nearing exhaustion from healing Torrin, pushed through and healed what he could of Fred's injuries.

Kipp relaxed slightly as the gentle green glow emanated from Kevin's hands. Knowing that his one young friend would survive his injuries despite his best efforts to the contrary was a relief. Kevin didn't seem to be quite as intimidating as he had been before. And his unquestioning silence certainly made things a lot simpler.

Now that he thought about it Kevin had never seemed to be one for many words. The last time he’d interacted with him was when Kevin had shoved him out of the way to take care of Cam. That felt like ages ago now. Kipp's wandering thoughts led his eyes away from Fred’s scowling face, to Cam who was sitting next to Noah. Who had somehow gotten his hands on some dried meat. Kipp’s stomach growled, reminding him that not only had he barely eaten for several days, anything he had eaten recently had been emptied out of his stomach hours ago when he'd thrown up.

He shot another warning glance at Fred, before leaving him with Kevin. He didn't really want to ask anyone for food, or help. But if he was going to force Fred to get help, he'd have to be willing to get help for himself too.

Water would be easier he decided, getting that first would keep him from having to answer everyone’s questions, and it would get him out of the cave which though welcoming, with all of his friends there, also had the oppressive stench of manure. Or maybe that was just him.

So he made his way to the cave entrance, stopping to peer at a giant dead dragon. He'd only kind of been listening to what Take had said about there being dragons on this planet. He'd mostly dismissed the idea, thinking Take had made it up to give the kids something exciting to think about to keep them going.

But now laying on the ground before him was a giant red-feathered lizard. He edged closer to it, unsure if it was actually dead, or just sleeping. Though maybe he didn’t want to know. If it was still alive waking it up would likely be dangerous. He frowned down at the giant head that was nearly as long as he was tall, silently deciding he wouldn’t disturb it, since he’d so perfectly fit inside it’s mouth.

The rain pelted down just outside the mouth of the cave, hissing and roaring as it cascaded down in sheets across the rocky ground. The sky flickered with lightning, illuminating the forest below. He wasn’t sure exactly where he was, but it looked vastly different from the beach that he’d been on a short time ago.

Kipp cupped his hands under a stream of water that dripped from above, running down the rocks overhead, and drank. He hadn’t had real water in days. The salty broth that he’d been given as food being the only source of hydration. He didn’t bother waiting to wash the grime off his hands, the cold water stinging his knuckles as it ran over the cuts. The cold water was exactly what he needed, though the fuzzy grime on his teeth made it slightly less enjoyable.

He grimaced, spitting the last bit of water on the ground, and rubbing a less than clean finger over his teeth in a futile attempt to clean them. Spitting again before heading back into the cave to look for food. Fred had mentioned going back home, but somehow, Kipp had a feeling they wouldn’t be going home any time soon. After all, how could they just leave all those kids there trapped? Sure it wasn’t their business it wasn’t even their planet, but what kind of people would they be if they didn’t make it their business? Could he really live with himself knowing that out there somewhere there were children trapped being forced to work that he could have helped?

He sighed, the weariness pulling his eyes shut as he walked. He knew he’d insist on helping them if the topic came up, but right now he was in no shape to do anything. Getting himself caught again wasn’t going to help anyone. He rubbed his eye with the heel of his hand, opening his eyes so he didn’t trip on his way back down into the interior where everyone else was, their conversation reached him, loud even where he was the words all smashed together and nonsensical. He didn’t particularly want to go back down there, even though he would like to see Cam, he knew she’d just have more questions for him, and right now he was far more interested in sleep.

He paused in his progress down the narrow corridor, a previously unnoticed passage opening under his trailing hand. He was hungry, but the water had satiated his hunger enough that sleep was a higher priority. And what better place to sleep than a hidden tunnel that he could have all to himself? Kipp bit at his lip, looking back toward the flickering light that was coming from his companions. A nervousness twisting his stomach at the thought of being separated from them. All the bad things happened whenever they were separated.

He shook his head, it wasn’t like he was going far, and Blair was with them. Her nose would be able to find him easily if they really needed him. He ran a hand through his greasy hair ignoring the nagging feeling, and slipped into the side tunnel picking his way down past the jutting boulders and hanging roots. All the possibilities of what he might find on the other end ran through his head, more dragons, giant spiders, or maybe there’d just not be ground under his foot for one step and he’d fall flightless down into the belly of the planet never to be seen again.

What he saw when he finally passed into an open chamber was none of those things. Instead it was a large flat dais, similar to the one he’d seen when he first arrived here, though smaller. This one also unlike the other held a large stone tablet, that stood taller than him, and a good four foot wide at least. Intricate scrawling symbols played over it’s surface glowing with an eerie blue light. Kipp stared up at it, his mouth hanging open, he knew better than to approach something like that, it was probably another warping stone. The last thing he needed was to be zapped to some other location.

He took a step back, turning quickly and going back the way he'd come.
