The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

Kevin looked down at her hand. “Oh, I thought I was forgetting someone, sorry. Thank you,” he said, scooping the chick up in his hands. “Neposlushnyy tsyplenok ty ostayesh'sya so mnoy.” He said softly to the chick, tucking it into his pocket with one of its siblings.
Lilith cocked an eyebrow at him, giving a small laugh. "It's so trippy to hear someone speaking in... Russian? What does all that mean?"

(who's the winged girl? Don't tell me Annie's here. )

Juliana followed his gaze to the group for the most part all huddled together in a circle. She hadn't noticed the winged boy before, looks like the fire girl wasn't the only weird one. There were a few others too that looked different from what she would expect. She curled her nose squinting at them suspiciously, they all seemed pretty comfortable here. They were probably behind this whole thing. Aliens? Aliens aren't real. But, how else can these weirdos be explained?
"So, are you human?" She asked, an accusatory tone in her voice. "Or are you one of these 'Special power Freaks'?"
(I just grazed over all the character descriptions and for some reason I thought there was a girl with wings, who knows what I was thinking  I’ll go edit my original post.)

Special power freaks? Uh oh. Bane could already envision an unpleasant ending to this conversation, but decided he would gain nothing from lying. He was not opposed, however, to conveniently beating around the bush a bit, in the hopes that she would pass off his power as a mere unusually special talent that any lucky person could possess. “Oh yeah, I’m just a plain, regular old human,” he said, attempting to sound convincing. “I do have a...,” he paused mid sentence, desperately searching for the right word, but as usual, his brain seemed to have gone on auto pilot, just when he needed it the most. What about strange? Or unnatural? No, those would both give me away. Stupid brain! Think! You only have one job and can’t even do it right half of the time! About thirty seconds later he blurted, “...an uncommon talent, which most other people wouldn’t have, but I mean, there’s nothing unusual about that, right? I mean everyone has that special thing that they’re really good at.” Whew. I think I saved myself.

A smirk turned up one corner of her mouth, as she contemplated the way he'd answered. "Hmm, I suppose. So, what's your talent?" She asked bluntly.

Haddie looked over at the boy, who was a good foot shorter than her. You'll be tiny, he can carry you, it's fine. She smiled back. "Thanks." She shifted into a canary and looked up at him expectantly.
Kipp gently scooped her up off the ground and placed her on his shoulder.

"Arrr ye comfterrrble?" He asked grinning as he imitated a pirate. "I'll stop." He chuckled in his normal voice.

"Uh..." Kylan only spared him a half second's glance. "That's... Just you. My brother is great."

Kylan nodded, stilling smiling. "Well, 'sup Nat, I'm Kylan Archer." He said quickly, jogging after Colby but opting to veer around the suspicious looking bushes. Who knows, they might be poisonous and kill me if I get scratched by one. "He's five, looks like me but with curly hair, kinda got a Irish accent. I think he was wearing a blue hoodie and jeans. His name's Torin."
He barely heard Lilith give an angry "Kylan!" as they jogged off.

Cam had no idea what intelligible reply was adequate in that situation, so she released a porcine squeal, squeezing tightly before jumping away.
”So what happened in your life while I was gone?”

”Thank you,” Kyle said, using his limited supplies to patch up the salamanders’ chest to the best of his ability. Which were actually quite good.
”I really wish I had some sutures,” he muttered, echoing his regrets from the last time he had to patch up an impromptu injury. ”I really should keep them on me.”

Hearing the commencement of the search for missing children, Cam turned away from Ellie, but not without a quick salute. ”To be continued,” she said, following Kylan, Nat, and Colby into the woods.
”I’m supposed to find somebody too,” she explained.
~
”Wait! Guys!” Kyle waved his hand as half a dozen teens went skipping into the forest. ”You can’t go galavanting off like that! We need to stay together!”
His voice barely carried to the first tree.
Kyle sighed and scrambled over to Rylie, glad speed was on his side.
Before Kyle could even properly settle behind his hackles, Rylie was bounding after them, sensing Kyle's urgency.
Rylie skidded to a stop in front of the capering orange-furred fox.
”You need to slow down. You will get eaten,” Kyle enuciated.

Wow, that's an understatement, Can thought. Then again, Ellie did have a tendency to overshare things. Maybe it was the upbringing.
After that thought had cycled around her mind a couple of times, she actually started paying attention to where she was going, curiously peering at Colby, or rather, the small, furry roadblock that stood before him.

"What are we even waiting for?" Kylan asked, looking down at the tiny man. "I mean, we sure ain't doin' anything at that platform. We're just as liable to die there as here, the only difference is we're actually doing something-- And working to save some kids." He argued calmly, not exactly sure why he was even bothering.

Lilith slinked up to his side, brow twitching from time to time due to an itch that she was unable to scratch because of the slightly annoying fact that both her hands were full. "Kylan and Fox-boy are right. We should be doing something, and look for those kids seems the right thing."

It was hard not to launch herself at Aella when the ginger started signing something along the lines of 'jealous, jealous girlfriend', but Take's grasp brought Blair to her senses, and she looked up at him. "My...niece?" It took her tired brain a moment to catch up, before she blinked rapidly, realizing what he meant. "Yes, my niece! She's got dark blonde hair and like...green and blue eyes. Looks a lot like Cynthia– that's not going to help because you don't know who Cynthia is– and she's like this tall." She spoke rapidly, barely taking a breath before she brought a hand up to around her hip, measuring the height of her niece.

Blair's fingers flexed in Take's grasp, her gaze whipping around at a panicked small voice. Only then did she realize that Cam, Nat, Colby, Ellie and someone else she didn't recognize, were running off into the woods, just barely stopped by Kyle and Rylie. She opened her mouth to say something, but a mixtura between Aella's low, sing-song voice, the chatter of the group and anxiety didn't allow her to actually say anything.

”Yes that’s great, but don't you see the reasoning of staying together?” Kyle was beginning to realize that being an adult did not mean you were in charge. ”Just in case one of you gets lost. Or something tries to eat you.”
~
As Kyle spoke, a creature watched from the forest, tucked behind the thick, twisted trunk of a centuries old tree. It's eyes gleamed golden and it had long, feathered wings. Everything about him was black as jet, from the fur covering every inch of his humanoid body to his feathered wings to the hooves on his otherwise-human-like legs. The only bit of color he had were those malicious yellow eyes.
He matched the darkness of the gloomy forest perfectly. And so he watched them, intentions as uncertain as the depths of the ocean.
Watching. Waiting.

“That’s good. Yeah, let’s go look for the kids.” Clary turned, jogging in the direction everyone else was running off to.

Kevin opened his eyes, watching the group disappear into the forest. He stood up, stuffing the baby chicks into his pockets and tucking the mama hen under his arm. He grabbed his gun, swinging it over his shoulder and following behind them. He didn’t think it was smart to leave, but he was the only one with a weapon and he wasn’t going to abandon all the kids.

"Then come with us." Kylan said blandly, tired of waiting to find Torin. "I'm sorry we didn't come to you and ask you to let us go, but I'm not going to wait around and let my little brother get himself killed in these woods."

Lilith dropped back away to side up to Kevin, holding out her hand which still had the little puffball-ish chick in it. "I've been holding her, um... You should probably take her before she jumps out of my hand, though."
Colby was quite proud of himself. By simply giving into his urge to make like the fastest thing alive, he'd amassed an entire search party.
He waved down at Mr. Beck and Rylie the roadblocks, beaming shamelessly. "Isn't this great? We'll find all of the missing kids way faster with everyone!"

A smirk turned up one corner of her mouth, as she contemplated the way he'd answered. "Hmm, I suppose. So, what's your talent?" She asked bluntly.
He was slightly taken aback by the straightforwardness of her question, having convinced himself that he had handled the situation very smoothly, but he decided to blame his brain and answer her question. Bane was at least comforted by the fact that she hadn’t thrown any scary accusations at him, well not yet anyway. “My special talent is water, I’m able to control it and other stuff like that,” he said matter-of-factly.
