The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

“I see that you know about as much as I do about your unanticipated arrival,” Korim said dismissively. He had forgotten about the coins he had taken, but now they jangled in his pocket. He looked around at the economical surroundings and decided that a bit of dragon gold would be worth a lot here. Fluffy pants wouldn’t mind a gold button on his pants, would he?
Korim didn’t like to pay in advance, as the Rugæ could take the money and deny a service, but he supposed if they turned them away they might just search the group anyways.
“I think right now our primary objective is to convince the chief that we aren’t trying to cheat his people. If he allows us to stay here, we can do our dealing privately. We are pretty loaded.”
"We are?" He muttered mostly to himself not sure what Korim meant. Were they trying to cheat them? "I mean, yes. We're," He tried to sound confident, to look like he meant what he was saying, while also trying to communicate to Korim subtly he wasn't sure what the plan was. "going to pay them. With all the, money, we have." Take mentioning he had something of value made him feel a lot less like he was lying, but still he didn't know what the Rugae would ask from them as payment, and really didn't want to piss off anyone here, they didn't need to make any enemies.

Take raised his eyebrows a bit, wondering if what he said got through from the way her eyes shined at him. He slightly smiled at her, then turned his attention to what Korim was saying.

He nodded along with what Kipp was saying, they could all use a place to stay and sleep for the time being. Take frowned a little at the thought of the group 'cheating his people' "Man, we got our own crap going on, we're not gonna mess with them or anything.." he murmured, annoyed. "I got some gold too if it'll convince him."
"I got some stuff from the dragons cave as well." Blair looked towards Korim, feeling her pockets briefly. "We're not going to mess with his people, if that's what hes saying. If we wanted to do something, we would have done it already."

(Well BYC decided I didn't need to know there were posts here, so it's not my fault I'm a bit behind.)

Kipp coming in to the room behind her, nudged Aria gently with an elbow giving her a reassuring, though still nervous smile.
"What ever happens it's better to be together." He whispered, walking past her and filling one of the empty spots at the bench. At this point there were only empty seats near the old woman left. No one wanted to sit near her.

Demands? That was an odd way to word it, they weren't in any position to demand anything. Maybe the wording had to do with translating, but from the gruff sound of the leaders voice it could very well have been asked that way.
He looked at Kyle, who sat perched between Rylie's ears, expecting him to say what they wanted. When he didn't immediately chime in Kipp looked at the next person he thought of as being in charge. But Take seemed to be preoccupied making faces at Blair.

"Uhh, the kids are hurt, if they have healers, we... request their assistance. If this is a safe place, maybe they could stay here? We don't have much to offer. I did pick up a few things from the dragons cave, but I doubt they're worth much." He paused frowning shifting uncomfortably under the attention he was getting for speaking. "How we got here?" He wasn't sure how to explain that. He'd been getting ready for the end of class when the floor opened under him, and he fell through to Borealis, others seemed to just step though. "It felt the same as teleporting, but I don't really know, I was just going about my normal day and then I was here."
Aria nodded glancing at Kipp who went and sat down

I don’t know what we could have done, Kyle thought. He knew Blair and Take thought they were the ultimate power couple, but the Borealans were definitely just as powerful, if not more so, than the group. And they seemed to have loads more experience under their belts due to age.
Kyle stood up on Rylie’s shoulder blades. He was sitting upright on the bench next to Korim.
“Offer the unicorn horn to the chief and tell him that you will give it freely to him to show our trust. Tell him that we will ask nothing of him other than his permission go into the village. Arrangements for food and services we can hopefully make in the village.
Explain that we are lost without food and simply have come not to beg, but to trade for help,” he told Korim. The last sentence sounded the worst and he hoped Korim, with all his fluency could make it sound better. Of course he wouldn’t be able to because Amer is incapable of playing him properly but whatever.

Korim nodded. “Any other suggestions?”

The Chief remained quiet and patient as the group conversed amongst themselves in a strange dialect.

Take shrugged, Korims explanation seemed to cover all the bases and he didn’t have anything to add on. “Then we can find some place to stay once we’re done here.. you guys happen to have inns here or somethin’?” he asked, hoping they wouldn’t have to stay in some barn that reeked of manure.

“I will definitely ask if they have any inns,” Korim said.
“They are decided, sir,” Korim told the chief. “Please take this as a token of our trust in you, and proof that we will not swindle you.” Korim held out the pearlescent horn and while he tried to maintain eye contact, he couldn’t help but glance up at the horn above the mantlepiece. The chief’s dark gaze was hard to hold for long. Because of this, it became an awkward, seated bow.
“Is their anything else you would ask of us so that we may be allowed to go into your village?”

The chiefs gaze settled on the horn that Korim held out to him. He slowly reached out and claimed it into his hands, feeling the fluting texture and sensing the strong healing power it possessed. He looked over at his younger brother and Mam, before making his final decision. “If my trust is betrayed, or there is an incident, I will not hesitate to seek your groups immediate departure. Either dead or alive. This is the only warning I will give you.” he spoke sternly, raising his hand and giving a slight wave. “See them out.” he told the spearmen, who came forth without pointing their weapons at the group. They freely gestured to where the group came in and were stripped of their possessions.

“I understand,” Korim said. Before the group was shown out, he explained to them: “The chief is kind enough to let us go into his village. However, if we cause any problems, we will be shown out. ‘Either dead or alive.’ This is apparently our final warning.”
Mam came in, holding Hana’s katana, just enough of it unsheathed to show the gleaming sword beneath. It was too perfect and balanced to be of this world, and definitely too perfect to be of the Rugæ, whose kilns were too crude and cold to produce much more than door handles and pans.
“Look at this,” she told Chief. She had totally ignored Kevin’s gun, not even recognizing it as a weapon.

Hana nearly stumbled out of her seat when she saw the elder lady bring her katana over to the Chief. She felt her heart sink, repeatedly uttering “No, no, no no no no” under her breath as she watched the Chief set down the unicorn horn and put his hands on her katana.

The Chief unveiled the weapon in its entirety and was surprised by how light-weight the sword was, believing it to be versatile with any task with the curved, single-edged blade that shone from the light of the fire. It was a true beauty, it was unlike anything he had ever seen before. “Remarkable, I shall add this to my collection.”

Hana started stepping towards the Chief, but a spearman interfered to prevent her from progressing any further, ushering her to go with her group. She didn’t move an inch as she bit her lip anxiously and balled her hands into fists that slowly hardened from her pent up emotions. “I.. need my katana..” she croaked.

Korim shook his head sympathetically. “It looks like he’s already got his eyes on it,” he muttered. “It is unlikely that you will get it back.”
