The Honey Factory

I opened my hive yesterday to check them. Over 3 full frames of bees, but I couldn't find the queen. It was cloudy and 50* when I was inspecting. They were a bit pissy.
I put in some more dry sugar on the newspaper and put in 2 Brood patties. I saw quite a lot of beetles so I also put in 2 beetle blasters. The hive is completely empty of honey.
I checked for eggs but none of those either.

I think my bees are dead. I can’t seem to get them through February…
You seem to have poor luck . I do everything wrong ( according to most ) and yet my bees are alive . I did not insulate or feed . Then again neither did my Dad in the 60's . He would feed in the spring sometimes but only if they needed it .

If you have a lot of beetles keep an eye on the patties, they may get full of beetle larvae.
Ok. I'll be watching for that, thank you. :thumbsup
Usually, the Swiffer pads with the beetle blasters work, but neither work in winter.
Thankfully it's getting warmer, so the beetle blasters should work now that the baited oil shouldn't freeze.

I was unloading wood pellets and the bees decided they should help.
