The honking... wow.

My 20 week old BR has been honking off and on for a week. She seems irritated. I thought last week that she was gearing to lay an egg. She goes in the coop, hangs out in the nest, and honks like crazy. She just stands there and honks. then she goes out of the coop... back in and honks. Please tell me this is something temporary?? The behavior doesn't change when I try to calm her down at all.

Could she have an egg stuck??

Sounds like she is getting ready to lay eggs. Mine 'practiced" going into the nest box and singing the egg song- which sounds like BAwk Bawk Bawk BAgawwk- before they started laying.

I have 2 EE's that have never really bawk'd at all. They only honk. Maybe thats just how she will sound. Mine are 26 weeks old and still honk.
