Update time!
It's been a while, but my plants are doing well--mostly.
The repotted aloes were flopping over and generally looking horrible, and the other succulents in there were getting worse, so I ditched those guys (except one healthy leaf from the rotted succ in hopes it will propagate). Between this aloe and my other aloe that is turning discolored (not the one I showed you, a different one) I only have one aloe that remains healthy. Fingers crossed I manage to keep it that way!View attachment 2647927

I'm rescuing a few of my mom's plants!
Here's a Christmas Cactus. I gave it a good watering but I will probably want to repot it soon; its soil doesn't look the greatest.

And an orchid...but with no drainage hole in the pot!
I pull it out of the pot and remove the bark chips to evaluate it, and sure enough...

These yellow roots have got to go!

Here's the newly repotted plant in front, with my other orchid in the back who'd been only half-repotted for a week or two. One underwatered, one overwatered; and both are now on their way to better health, hopefully!

I finally moved them into my sisters' old bedroom because it has this lovely turret with south and east-facing windows!

Notice the cute little greenhouse, or 'Wardian Case' my dad made for me a while back out of the house's old windows. I hope to put something alive in there eventually, but right now it's full of dead plants that I don't care for anymore.
Also. Yes, that is an ironing board (my sister is furious at me). This is a very makeshift setup as you can see.

Some of what's on top of the bookshelf (for now).
I still have to hang up Patience, my string-of-dolphins. I'll probably have to repot her a second time as well since I forgot to give it drainage (though her roots don't go very deep in yet so I'm not super concerned).

My three newest additions! Cobweb Hens&Chicks, Perle von Nuremberg, and a Gasteria of some sort...

I was able to repot many of my little succulents, including the ones above, into one big chaotic bowl the other day!
I still need to fix some aspects of the arrangement, but here it is for now! I've put some smaller cuttings in what looks like those big 'gaps'. Hopefully, they'll grow into their place someday.

Lastly...here's the progress on my propagated leaves!
The echeverias have grown a lot of adorable pink roots. No succulent babies yet!
View attachment 2647947
The sedums have started growing the very start of the baby succulents, though!

Nice update! I find the propagated leaves really interesting. It is amazing how they can grow new baby succulents like that. :thumbsup Your new succulent arrangement is beautiful, by the way!

Hi, it’s me, Anna. You may also know me from the Artists thread. Well, it turns out I’m also a beginner gardener and plant keeper!
Feel free to post pics of your plants and any advice you can share with me, a newbie :D
I’ll begin!
I first started keeping cacti/succulents a few years back, but it never became a real hobby until this year. Because of that, my old plants are dying. Maybe I’ll be able to revive them with your help.
Here’s some pictures of my old plants.
Some beheaded and repotted jade (in old soil.) they are pretty dehydrated.

floppy cacti.

some more repotted succulents. The aloes are withering and The little echieveria was dying of mold. I had to pull off some leaves, but I can’t do anything to help it now. I don’t care if the aloes die since I have a healthier one anyway.

the rotted leaves. Yuck!
View attachment 2625163
I promise I take better care of my newer plants!!
I’m kind of into semi-hydroponics right now. I have a lot more but I’m still moving and haven’t brought them here yet.

I’m a little late to This thread but I thought I would share anyway. Also all the plants on my windowsill that need a lot of bright light don’t worry I know in the picture it looks like they’re barely getting any light but I have a south west facing windows so I get the most light at about 2 o’clock until it gets dark.

Ive got a pic of them all together ill have to dig it up later.

Oh my lord. This thread is a gold mine! Tbh, most of my plants are outside atm since its warm enough, and I give away a third of my garden as I rotate plants through. But I'll show off my permanent ones! Also, a long post is incoming.

First! Is my strawberry pear dragon fruit! And what is most likely the stem of @Emily_loveschickens moon cactus.
20190628_150121.jpg

It is now 3 years old, and the parasitic cactus on top has long since died.
IMG_20200201_183622_737.jpg
This is what it looked like after the top piece came off and it started branching.
20210812_162746.jpg

The rest is history! I make cuttings of this plant every year, to control growth and bc it's so much fun! I have one left (that is spoken for).
20210812_162509.jpg

This was cut at some point in the summer, and the third section on top has all grown since it's been cut! Gah, It's so prolific and fun.
20210812_162724.jpg

The last pic of this plant, I promise. Can you tell it's my favorite? This is a 2-year-old cutting of it. Just got moved outside this summer to get more sun and it's put on branches like crazy.
Next! This is my Zebra plant? I'm not experienced with big leafy guys. And it is so needy!
20210108_172124.jpg
So you can see how nice and green it was when I first got it...and how it looks now lol. But I love it all the same. Dramatic jerk.
20210812_162615.jpg
Classic money tree! It was braided, but I separated them and let it grow out. It's like a little forest.
20210812_162619.jpg
Pregnant onion! Do yourself a favor and google it if you're not familiar. GORGEOUS. Mines still a baby.
20210812_162605.jpg

A big baby though. And my cat ate some of the leaves -.- So it got a new stand.
20210812_162602.jpg

A snake plant I was gifted. I am having a hard time making myself love it tbh. I want the whale's tongue variety still, this one just isn't doing it for me. But it was a gift, so it gets a spot on a stand too. How do I make the leaf tips not sad???? Help me.
20210812_162527.jpg

I'm a sucker for texture. I had a Lamb's Plant pass this summer as a result of poor watering during a heatwave. RIP. So I got this Vicks plant to replace it! Too cute! And yea, it smells like Vicks.
20210812_162555.jpg

A seasonally indoor plant? My prickly pear cutting from a friend a few states over. It has new growth finally! How exciting!
20210812_162729.jpg

And now, to wrap this up, a series of pics about my carnivorous plant terrariums. I have a red Lack Luck tropical pitcher plant and one that I haven't figured out yet. They both have their own jar.
20210812_163011.jpg

This is the Lady Luck, though she is still recovering from my learning curve about their care.
20210714_131741.jpg

This is how she looked when she was healthy!
20210810_162659.jpg

You can see one of the Isopods (Rolly Pollys) here! In the top left leaf gap, 11 O'clock. The terrariums are self-containing ecosystems, so they have a water cycle and detritivores.
20210812_163018.jpg

This is the second jar, in which you can see the water reservoir at the bottom (black). Followed by a carbon filter layer, cheesecloth, moss "soil", and then the plants.
20210802_161656.jpg

I've had this plant longer, so it's already recovered from my blunders and developing several young new pitchers!

Sorry for the huge post. Thanks for reading though.

Whew! I’m feeling overwhelmed because some of the things mentioned are sparking in my brain, but just won’t ignite! I know I’ve seen or read about certain plants, but I am lost as to which they are, and I don’t understand how certain succulents are different than others, and… 94B8580F-236C-4216-A2D0-B33112E8DAB4.gif E565E900-A68E-4F86-8B6D-B226938BAB73.gif 4F7ED912-C737-4BFC-9C22-188BF1370325.gif
