The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

She's lovely Patty! I like her fluffy bum, I feel like when they're that young and they already have some poof going on in the rear it's a good indication that they'll be a big bottomed girl when they mature. At least that was the trend with my pullet this year.

Morning everyone.

Hey earlybird! Hustling for that raise... go GO jeremy!

Here's a blue girl that is a bit younger but looks nice too. She doesn't have the "hooves" that black girl does, but it's early yet. I'm hoping she grows out with stunning color to make up for dainty feet. Her father is HUGE and blue, but not really laced or anything.

Well her lacing is GORGEOUS!

Like with the fluff, when they start showing a trait that young I'm betting that she grows up to be beautifully laced. It also looks like she'll be a pretty lighter shade of blue, too.

A raise?

No, I'm just a dumb dumb and forgot that I started later today.

I actually did get a raise in March... a whoppin' $0.47!

Does anyone have the SOP for blue orp. Specifically the color, I have two girls that have just turned 4 months old that to me look awesome, but they have different shades of blue in their color. I'm thinking that a consistant blue color is preferred but I've never seen the sop on the color blue. I'll try to take pictures, but storms are cropping up right now and they are all running for cover.

These are a couple of my Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons that I ordered from Green Fire. Hatch date on these was 3/23/2011 and there are 2 of the 4 showing barring. The other 2 look solid Buff, which was what to be expected since they also sent split to Cuckoo, also. These will be in the same coop with our Buff Orpingtons starting in the Fall of 2011. Their offspring will be Buff and split to Lemon Cuckoo.

Hi Joy, I hope it's o.k., I know she is not an Import but I wanted to share a couple of pictures of my gorgeous blue bantam pullet.

I hope to bring her out this fall to the shows. She is one massive little butterball!

Adorable chicks...but I do have a question.

How can the be split to Cuckoo? From my understanding of it, if they do not show the Cuckoo pattern they are missing th barring gene because it is a dominant trait. Also depending on which parent was the Cuckoo, they may be sexlinked. Now I may be completely wrong....

Please let me know.
