What are Lavender Orpington chicks supposed to look like?

Pics
Not sure I am much help, as I am still learning about them myself, but here is a picture of my Lav for a comparison. She is large & in charge, and very fluffy but her feathers seem pretty normal (non shredded) to me?

I am not sure which variety my lav is, my guess is not english, but I am not an expert with this breed by any stretch. She is quite a bit larger than my Buff orpington too. Either way, maybe the photo will help you/someone else out. Edited to add - she is about 23 weeks in this photo.

She's an American type Orp, pretty girl!

I had this same experience. I have a lavender Orp I got at 4 weeks that looked fine. I think she was more of an American type. Then a couple weeks later I got two 4 wk old English orps from a breeder. A very expensive breeder and they had slow growing jacked up looking feathers. I’ve had them about a month or 6 weeks and they’re growing out but they have been ugly this whole time slowly getting better. Mines also has red like you were talking about. My rooster still has a few naked spots so I won’t even let them outside if it’s not at least 60 because I feel like he’ll freeze! Mind you I didn’t even want the rooster! But anyways I just had a similar experience with ugly naked lavender orps.
