THE IMPOSSIBLE HATCH ALONG

This is so disappointing. It did not hatch. As I expected, since the one embryo died the other one quickly followed, and the black mass that I saw while candling was just a thick green substance. Last night (late day 19) I poked a hole in the egg, and the egg went PoP, but to me it still looked like there was a chick inside. Today (day 20) I was carefully removing shell so I could see more, and I accidentally punctured a hole in the membrane. Thick, disgusting, green liquids went everywhere, and some even got on my fingers:tongue

That being said, if anybody tries to incubate a double yolk,

1. If one dies, the other WILL die

2. Do not try to hatch it when one is dead

3. ALWAYS check for liquids seeping out of the egg/a bad smell.

Awe😕 I guess I never thought of it that both would have to die then.

I've got a double Yolker due to hatch any time now and I thought both were developing at days 5-7 or so and then I didn't candle till day 10 and it's like one disappeared so I hope it didn't die cause I want one (or preferably both) to live

Just watch for a foul smell and foreign liquids coming out 🤮
