The Incubation Thread

Hello to all who read this. I am a first time incubator. I hope that if anyone has questions about their incubation process, they will see this thread. I will update with daily posts about how they are doing. I have a mini 24 egg incubator off of Ebay. (https://www.ebay.com/itm/133739405013?hash=item1f237d5ed5:g:RAgAAOSwGzhaN~RC) Today is day 1. I have 7 of my own Cochin Bantam eggs in it. If you have this incubator, I suggest you watch this:

It has some of the problems with this incubator. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but for the first 18 days the temp. should be 37.6, for the humidity, ideal is 45%-55%. If you have incubation stories, feel free to share them!

Do you have another thermometer and hydrometer? Those models are rarely accurate

I run 30 to 40 percent humidity and watch the air cell. SOmetimes the humidity is even 25 to 30. I figure can always add water and bump up the humidity. You can draw a circle around the air cell in pencil so you can watch it.
I do not have the same incubator.
Are you using a seperate thermometer to double check your temps? How about a seperate hygrometer? You should be.
Humidity would be to high for me
I do not wash my eggs before incubation, but then I do not use really overly dirty eggs.

I am ordering another thermometer and hydrometer but I do not have one at the moment. When I washed them I gently took my finger put a little water on it, to get the poop off. I will let the humidity drop a little and not worry about it. Thank you!

I candled egg 2 and egg 5, I grabbed random eggs. I could see nothing, yet. I will post a picture later.
