The incubator I just built

Thanks Sally and thank you for all the info on here to read and learn from. I have read alot of postings/ information here to be able to make something nice that will function with the right settings. I always pool the advice and Experience from the BYC people .

Just curious, how do you like the incubator warehouse electronics? Im getting ready to start on a hatcher but was going to use a Auberins PID controller with a RTD sensor.

I've ordered from Incubator Warehouse twice. With the most recent order, my Incutherm+ thermometer/hygrometer died after less than 2 weeks of use. They sent out a new one the same day I called. I had to insist on priority shipping, and am still waiting for it, but am pleased with their prompt response. I am pleased with the thermostats and the Incutherm+ products.

I really like the digital thermostat and the heating elements that I got from incubator warehouse. when I was havening issues with which way to adjust thermostat the guy at incubator warehouse took my number home after he got off work he called me and made sure my thermostat was working correctly. Gave me his home cell number if I needed any help. That was nice.

Strader,

Very nice job on the incubator. But you should know, a while back someone posted a warning
about rough service bulbs. They are coated with Teflon and it gases off fumes that are
toxic to chickens.

I will change that out to a regular bulb then, good thing I have four fans running all the time and small 3/8 air exhaust hole. Thank you for the info.

I am curious how this unit ran for you so far? It is built quite similar in design to the GQF models I have. I have only the two fans on my incubator and on the hatcher and I find that they actually produce too much air flow, drying everything too much in the process. I have run them with only one fan the last two season and find that it worked much better. With 4 fans in yours, did you run into that problem at all?

I also have used that same thermostat from IW, and it worked very well, but only lasted one season for me before I needed to replace it on my Leahy 624. Of course, that was constant running for about 5-6 months, so that probably makes a difference. I have concluded that it is wise to have stuff like that on hand for when they do die.

Ran awesome with 4 fans. Fan speed may also matter. I didn't even add and water from humidity system and it stayed at 43% during my hatches. I live in the city and have decided to sell this great incubator. Cant keep doing 160 chicks in town. Way overkill.
