The Incubator Thread

Help, I can't get my humidity below 44%. I'm on day three and want it down to at least 25-30%. Its raining here though... I have a king suro 20 incubator and this is my first hatch... Help!

Take all the water out of the incubator and open any vents that you have on it. To get your desired level of humidity add a little water at a time then leave it to settle to get a good reading from your hygrometer. You don't need as much as you think and the key is let it settle. Good luck

There aren't any water pans in there, it has a tube that leads to water and sucks it in itself. I removed the tube from the water source last night... Not sure if there are vents on it?

What type of incubator is it? Is it a brinsea with humidity pump that has a tube that leads to water. If you have removed tube and there is no water in it then barring opening any vents there is not much more you can do. I incubate at 45% day 1-18 and have not had problems with that %. You will have natural humidity and also the moisture that the eggs are loosing.

No probs first time hatching is nerve racking. In fact all hatching is nerve racking and exciting all rolled into one. But when you see your chicks in the brooder you realise all the worry is worth it. Wishing you the very best of luck with your eggs :thumbsup

These 2 fridge eggs hatched today. hen sat on them then moved to incubator last day. they hatched on day 23 by them selves they were late because they were fridge.

Day three and I candled, veins present in 8 eggs for sure and the other 4 are maybes!!! Super excited! My five year old daughter jumped up and down!

I'm on day 18 of my hatch and keeping the humidity above 60% for the last few hours is proving very difficult. I was wondering if someone could help me by telling me if it's ok to open the bator to add a few wet sponges at this stage or is it too late?
