The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

Here is what I believe is a Khaki ( the brown one my first ) I know the yellow is a Pekin - I have 3 one year old pekins already .

I just adopted them from a person online who - was one of the " aww let's buy em cuz they are cute " ugh !! Well she bought them 2 weeks ago so I believe they are 2.5 weeks . She found out quick that she couldn't care for them and now I have them .. They came to me shivering wet in a box w no bedding . The food and waterer she gave me was actually 2 waters so I don't think they were fed right- too tiny of holes . I am no expert but clueless isn't the word ...
I've been bribing them with peas and soft words all day. I hope to get them to trust me . My other ducks and geese were all imprinted on me .. So this skittishness is very new to me . Thanks

My KC were all brown ducklings but I have seen pied campbells. They have white on them and are very rare.

I was just wondering because I have seen pics(including one at the top of the page) of KC ducklings with a small yellow spot at the base of its throat..

So I got two khaki Campbell's tonight from the local feed store. This is my first time owning and raising ducks. Is there any tips I should know about raising these little gals. We have them home and their heat lamp on them.

Oh and also our new additions my husband said that he had read that from very young to put some kind of source of water dish in their area so they can swim and hang out in it. Is that okay?

Do some KCs have a yellow spot on their bills? It's not as much yellow as it is... very light brown. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to the world of Khaki Campbells! Is the spot on the tip of your duckling's bill? Also, please know that you should dry your ducklings off thoroughly after letting them swim. They don't produce the oils they need to preen until about six weeks old and can catch a chill and perish.

So I didn't know you need to dry off the kitty guys after swimming what if we put a water bath in with them all the time how do you dry them off every time? Should I just put the water bath in a couple times a day and take it out ??

I was wondering the same thing. Since chick waterers don't work well enough for ducklings, I put a small bowl of water so they can dunk their heads in, and it's inevitable they walk in it. Should I try something else? I do make sure the water is warm, and they are inside my house under a heat lamp.

Ducklings need a constant supply of water.

I have also had success with hanging a poultry water in their brooding pen but there will always be a wet spot under the waterer. It is best to give them something that they can only get their bills (up to their eyes) in.

Then it is more than likely the current color of the little one's bean. Can you post a close-up photo?
