The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

Salam Subhanallah!

I'm not sure. I have never seen this type of behavior between two girls. As you may recall, I separated all the hens from the drakes bc they were getting sexually abused. I didn't think they would ever want to be involved in mating after what they endured. This might just be a friendly hen bonding thing going on here???
Could you please give me some advise on what to do when the eggs hatch? I hope they don't quarrel over who the mom's going to be. Lol!

:jumpy

Salam
and may peace and blessings be upon you!
I have not had ducks try to co-parent...I would just watch them carefully.
Perhaps someone else with more experience can weigh in?

I am having some technical difficulties.

Subhanalah is right female do that all the time when makes aren't present to prove that they are superior to the other a lot like dogs

Usually the female who is more dominant will accept the babies while the female who is less recessive will try to kill the babies from the alpha female . ( what I have experienced through my geese , rouens , and Muscovys )

Oh no! That sounds aweful! Sorry you had to go through that. Man...I sure do have my hands full. I'm used to 5 friendly peaceful ducks. Now that I've added 12 new ones, it's all about hierarchy and drakes raping my poor girls. So now I have to be the peacemaker among the girls too.
Aaaahh!!!

with hens, you can sequester her from the rest of the flock...could you get that green plastic netting to see rate her from the other hen? Give her food and water and she'll be fine...what about duck hens?

Thank you Subhanallah!

They're fine now. I'm just responding to BuffGooseGuy's post. I'm worried that Tullip will kill Butterscotch's babies when they arrive. I'm going to have to build a second duck house.

My Khaki crew got their first trip into the pool today. They are still getting used to me so they weren't too keen on me picking them up to take them over to the pool but once they got into the water they had a good time.

Yeah, just make sure they have plenty of cover. They rarely fly, and can only fly a little, so a duck running away from a hawk doesn't have much time! (oops this is in reply to the person thinking of getting khakis, who has the roehns!)

Do all duck owners have at least one named Daffy? My Khaki's are not named, except the one I call Little Yappy B...ch because she chatters all the time. But I do have a Cayuga female named Daffy.
Yes, my black Swedish is Daffy. My Pekin is Aflac, LOL. Then Patches is my Blue Swedish (she has a spotty bill and feet) and Cadbury is my Khaki. My ducks all have names but only certain chickens do, LOL.

Hello!

Looking for words of wisdom. I have a drake and a hen around 4 months old. They are in the backyard and free range with my chickens (silkies and cochins). The ducks are always chasing my chicks and I was wonder if I should get another hen or two to keep them occupied...

What do you think?
