The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

700

Heres a picture of them this morning. The one on the right has his drake feather, the one on the right still hasnt gotten his (99% sure he is a he).

They look handsome.
My baby made a noise that sounded like a quack. It still peeps and then all of a sudden a quack comes out. So I guess in a few more days we will be able to hear it better.

I'll have to take some pics tomorrow. My six Khakis are 6 weeks old on Sunday, and I'm going to be pretty disappointed if too many turn out to be drakes. I have spent at least an hour with them every night since getting them, they follow me everywhere. How do you possibly get rid of them and start all over after that?

Noticing definate differences in our birds feathering, one looks like rounded spots on the back (the larger with a darker colored head) and the other 2 are smaller less upright in their walking and the feathering is more tipped and pointed. These 2 are lighter and no darkness around their head. 6 weeks old

I am super excited that there was a thread strictly for the Khaki-Campbell! We have three of our own and if I'm right, we have one female and two males.. Our female quacks like nobodies business and the other two sound like they have laryngitis. We got them from Tractor Supply who tried to tell us they were Rouens and not knowing anything about them we took their word because honestly we didn't care what kind of ducks we were getting, we just wanted ducks and have for a while. So I started researching after we got home and got them settled and our little ducklings looked nothing like what they were supposed to so I looked up dark brown ducklings and khaki-campbells popped up. Having a friend who also ended up with these ducks, but knew it at the time she got them helped me figure out that Tractor Supply had no clue. They are now 10 weeks old and going through their feather changing stage. The boys are getting so handsome.. Their heads are starting to darken a little and you can see hints of green..

So lovely! be sure to watch out for the female - sometimes drakes will mate too much or too roughly.

My Khakis are still very scared of me at 4 weeks now. I don't think I spent enough time with them. The pekins also react that way when they're with the KCs.

I noticed that one of my KCs feet have some really rough and cracked looking spots right in the middle of the bottom. Hoping it's not some kind of bumble issue, but have been treating it just in case. Seems to be responding to treatment, so I will hope for the best there.

I'm finishing up a chicken tractor like frame so I can get them out in the grass to do duck things hopefully this weekend.

6 1/2 weeks, still trying to determine sex of some. They are so fun.

They found the insulator fountain...

Don't stray too far from me when the hawks fly over...
