What is the book called? And what is it about?

It's called Music From Another World. It's about these two girls in 1977 and they are in two different parts of California and their schools had a pen pal assignment. They both get assigned to each other and they talk about how both their families are like die hard Christians and don't understand them. They also talk about punk rock music and like their families forbid it because it's not religious and just angry music. The one girl then runs away from her family to meet her pen pal and they then try to keep it a secret from the one girls family where she ran away to so they won't drag her back but the one girl's mom finds out they have been sneaking out to watch punk shows downtown and forbids them to ever talk to each again so then they both like run off. It kind of reminds me of the Footloose movie.
