Hi ALL
We got 3 chickens on saturday morning, (today isd tuesday) The kids were suppose to let the chickens out into the run this morning but have let one chicken out and it is nowhere to be seen. My question is will it recognise the coop as home and come back? or is it likely to be gone forever?
We got them from a place where they roosted up trees, and i have no idea how old they are.

Do you know the Breed? If its game???

You might spread some scratch in front of their run, so that the escapee can come back and "join" her flock, even with the fence between them. Hopefully she's got some predator evasion skills, and will put them to good use. If she does come back, you will then need to get creative at catching her. I suggest that you rig a small run with deer netting that is also covered with deer netting. You could lure her into the run with scratch, and then, block her in. I'm guessing she's wild enough that simply catching her is not going to be an option. You might also try a live trap baited with scratch.
