The Kitchen Table - come sit with us! new request added to post 1!

Hi to all you newcomers to the table! Nice to meet you!

I forgot to answer my own last post...

The one thing I wanted to do before the summer was over was to sit on a sunny beach with my feet in the sand and watch the waves. I got to do that today, sort of. Anyone who lives in the bay area knows that it is never sunny at the beach during the summer. The fog is like an endless blanket, and everything is cold and misty. Well, today, the forecast was for nearly 70 at the beach! I grabbed a friend, bought some subs and a couple of towels, and off we went. We waited in the fog until 3pm, and nearly gave up. Then, the sun poked through. We saw nearly all of the Golden Gate towers appear out of the fog, and we soaked up nearly an hour of sun on the warm sand. Now, it can be fall.

One thing I want to do before summer is over is make sure my friend and her hubby (who is terminal) know that I love them, and I want him to know that I will be there for his beautiful bride of 27 years 24/7/365 for whatever she needs.

Hi OM! Thanks for letting me pull up a chair.

I'd love to finish the second coop. The chicks are in it but we still need to put the siding on and put the window and door in. And get the nesting boxes built and hung in there. I suspect the Red Stars and Black Stars are going to start laying by the end of September - I hear they get going young!

I'd like to go to the beach since I haven't been this year. Everyone says "Oh, central NC how perfect. 2 hours to the beach, 2 hours to the mountains!" Yeah, so you never end up going to either one.

Good morning from Hot, Hot Arizona,

I just want to say hello to all my old friends, and a hello to all the new folks. This is a great place to stop and chat. I have been gone a long time. I am fighting the nasty cancer. Things are getting better, and I hope to be able to chat with you all.

Take care Pati:

holy moley!! Pati!!! I've missed you! You are fighting cancer? When did you find this out? You know we've had a thread for Luna going, and it's a great place to go for cancer support. Several people have cancer of various types, and are sharing the details over there. You're welcome to do that here, too. We're thrilled to hear from you. But, we aren't here as much as we used to. (I'm over there, too.) That thread is....

Steff, I knew Pati was ill and putting up a fight but didn't feel I could post in without her permission.

I'm going to echo the previous statements about checking out the cancer thread.

Steff, thank you for directing me to the chat room for us cancer fighting folks. Wow! I had no one to talk to except my family, and it is really hard for them to relate to what is going on. Again thank you and God go with you.

I have missed you, and all the friends I have made.

Until tomorrow. Your friend Pati:

Oh my gosh, thank you all for thinking of me. I started to cry from the caring friends. A very good cry. I am so blessed.

It's been a long, long time since I sat at this table. (I'm amazed this thread still exists. Thanks, Nifty!) Some very good friends have left this planet since I last sat here, but life goes on. They would want it that way.

I hope you all have been loving your family and friends, and caring mightily for your fur and feather friends. They keep us sane.

I'm just wrapping my head around all the changes here at BYC, but I'm sure they make the place better. I deleted my old avatar, since it was so fuzzy that it didn't look like me anymore. I'll figure out the photos and avatar stuff at some point and add a new one.

So, here is my question for the day:
Note #36 - What have you been doing to keep yourself as healthy as possible?
This could be something you're doing physically. It could be something for your emotional health. Maybe what you do fulfills both needs.

As for me, I've been riding bikes with some other teachers from one of my schools. I also started walking. (I'll run when my chiropractor gives me the okay.) My intent is to eventually finish a mini triathlon. First step will be to participate in the Cinderella Classic bike ride on March 31st. It's a metric century ride. That equals 65 miles in a day. We do crazy things in the second half of our lives. Crazy is okay. :)

Last summer I also became a vegetarian. This change alone caused me to lose 10 pounds. I finally started seeing a chiropractor for my back problems. Now, I feel better than I've felt in years.

Okay, your turn!
