The most unbelievable experience I've ever had?

The one I'm going through right now.

And it still seems like a bad mistake to me. And, unfortunately, it's not getting better yet.

I'm behind on a few questions- Pen, fine point, black ink. Hate mechanical pencils, prefer regular pencils.
Favorite game as a child.. tough one. I liked all games, but I was a very VERY sore loser. Had a tendency to lose, too. And get very VERY sour. So the best game was probably hide-n-seek. Except when I hid so well no one could find me. Or maybe they just didn't want to find me.Hmmmm

Most unbelievable experience? I don't think I have had one. Well maybe my trip to Australia. I camped on the beach- no fancy accomodations, just a tarp, and a bush. There were whales swimming offshore a little bit. They were HUGE, and awesome. Then snorkeling, which I had not ever done before along the reefs. The guy running the boat was flirting with me. He waited until I got seperated from the group, and threw some sort of fish food all around me. I was suddenly surrounded by thousands of fish.
At night, the beach was covered with ghost crabs ( called that because they are almost translucent), and they are FAST..
I also went snorkeling in a place called Shark Alley( Not knowing at the time that is what it was called). I was surrounded by sharks. But, I found out ( after the fact) that they were whale sharks- I think basically just a big fish totally harmless. Yeah tell THAt to my beating heart LOL
I did get into the city ( Perth), and ate at some ethnic restaraunt, with a menu not in Engilsh. I pointed to a picture on the menu, and got a huge plate of some sort of food that looked gross, but was mouthwatering yummy. It could have been horse meat, for all I know.
It was an awesome trip.

sounds pretty awesome to me, too! I would love to go snorkeling. DSO snorkels for abalone, but I won't go in the ocean. He will have to teach me someplace safer than that. I have already told my near-death experience, and I don't want to have another one.

to you Luna. I saw your thread, and we'll all be here for you. Sometimes it's easier to talk to cyber friends because our family is so close they can't bear to hear our fears. they're afraid they'll lose us. I have friends who have survived cancer for many years now. You will too!

Being away at sea in a force 10 Storm, (on a large chemical tanker vessel) and watching the whole Nature Sceanrio from the bridge... being thrown from one end of the bridge to the other.... and still being alive at the end of it... the Captain was about to put out an SOS.... my worst nightmare - I can't swim.. and we all knew that there was no way on the Lord's earth that we could ever launch lifeboats... that was a night I will never forget.....

Life takes on a new meaning after facing something like that, Linda.

Jena, when my first son was born, I remember being so amazed at the curves in his little ears, and those tiny, tiny fingernails. Such a marvel! Such a miracle!

Can I just take a time out and vent while y'all sip your coffee?

???

I have worked for the same small community hospital on the same floor with the same supervisor for 12 years. I have an outstanding work record. My annual performance ratings are embarassing they are so good. So my manager calls me today and says"sorry I have to suspend you for three days without pay" I'm like

Ummm for what???? We have annual competencies and one was due March 15. I did it in January but I did not check one little box at the bottom of the 10 page test that says I decline my flu vaccine. So it was considered incomplete. So instead of suspending me on the 16, 17, 18 which I was not scheduled on and were the three days following the due date, they are suspending me (and all the others) for the next three days they are scheduled. For me, that is Fri, Sat, Sun. The pay period ends Sat, so I will be missing 2 out of 6 days on my pay because I didn't check a box. My supervisor had the time to call me to suspend me, but she didn't have the time to call and say come in and check the box.

To put this in perspective.... Our hospital is remodeling and going from two pt rooms to one patient rooms. So our patient load is going to be cut in half. Instead of laying a lot of people off, the administration has been just messing with all their employees to get them to quit, which at least 10 people have so far (that's alot considering it is a SMALL hospital). If we all quit then they don't have to pay unemployment. I am sooooooo mad right now I can't even see straight. The patient census is very high right now and they are going to pay registry nurses to come in on the weekend just because we didn't check a box. I am going to go finish my beer.

Suzy, I'm sorry you're going through this. I hated the supervisors who played head games like that. It's unnecessary. It's mean-spirited. I'd have a beer with you, but I can't afford beer right now. I'll make tea, and we can do some primal screams.

Thanks Steffanie... primal screams huh.. okay that got me laughing... I think my kids would have me in straight jacket if I went out to the porch and started screaming from the pit of my stomach or howling at the moon. HA, that is quite a visual...
