I have to go into town today. I hate shopping when I have a tight budget. I have to talk myself out of buying something, that I never had to think about when I worked. I bought the brand I like. It takes me lots longer to shop when I must compare price. I did find out, that if I make a list and only get what is on the list. I do better. I get my supply's for a month at a time. I used to have 5 major Groc. stores within a 5 mile radius of my house. Now I am 35 miles one way to get to 1, and a Wally World.

jeauca, thanks for all those posts...quite entertaining and I wish I'd been up with you having coffee together, but I get up at 5AM and I really do need my beauty sleep! I don't think it helps, but hey, my wife seems to appreciate it...the sleep anyway! LOL

Patti, don't blow away!! LOLOL One of my favorite lines from one of the best movies... The Holiday. Don't normally watch romanitc comedies. We are SUPER conservative and don't have TV but one of my girlfriends talked me into going to the movies with her.... I totally loved that movie...

John... yes, wives do tend to like it when their smooshies (our pet name for husbands)get sleep. Makes them far less grumpy

Pati, I have been that "destitute" single mom for 14 years..(minus 2.5 years in the middle for that nightmarish brief marriage when I was supporting him and his kids.. but who is counting).... We had to live very, very simply.. I drive an OLD car that own, no credit cards, no debt, NO STUFF in my house, NO EXTRAS no matter what... so I know it is not fun to live on a budget. It is only in the last year or so that money has loosened up just enough so that we don't have to live so meagerly. Now I find I am constantly wanting things that are just outside my reach, when I didn't have that problem before. I find myself taking on extra days at work (more time away from kids) to earn more money for something I or my kids want.. Life was way simpler and happier and we are all missing it....

anyway... just wanted to let you know I know how you feel...

Thanks for the support. All my young life when I was raising my 6 kids. Scrimp was my name. I know how. I just haven't done it in some time. Now that I am retired and all my $$$ was wiped out. I am living on SS only. Thank the Lord my home is paid for. My car died big time. I could get a new one with a better deal than a used one. The distance I live from town I need something that I can depend on. My life is at stake driving Arizona's "Death HWY" I-10. Yes! It is worth the sacrifice. Like you said ORP, only I know and boy do I know!

I made it home safe and sound from the shopping trip. The sun was out the whole time, People has smiles on there faces. That was nice to see. It was a good day.

I had $5.00 tucked away. I was craving a fast food HB and some Fries. I went to Jack in the Box. they had a nice looking grilled Turkey and Cheese sand. I got it. That was so Nasty. I scraped the pink relish looking sauce off the best I could. It was sooooooooo salty. I could not eat it! I got curly fries, they were full of grease, and most were burnt pieces. the 3 curls were grease.

I threw away $5.00. That will teach me to eat fast food!

I did get some nice Strawberries. Yum!

I aquired 2 platic "barn" doghouses today!

See me and FIL went to the scrap yard (where I get a lot of chicken supplies for cheap) where I picked up a spare tire, a metal grate like you scrape your feet on, a set of tire chains that can be sized up to fit my truck, and a medium sized barn doghouse that still had some of the stickers on it! All for a grand total of $7!! Most people go to the recycle/scrap yard to SELL scrap (and I do too) but today I brought home a bunch! LOL

Well after I got home I attempted to work on some projects in the yard. My neighbor came out in the yard so I asked her if she wanted some more eggs. I brought her a doz and she asked about the chickens and stuff. Then her hubby comes out and asks if we could use a small barn style doghouse that his boss gave him, but his dog doesn't use. I told him sure I could probably make a chicken shelter out of it!!!

Score two doghouses for me!

YES!! HOBOY is hubbs grouchy when he doesn't get enough quality sleep! Oy.​
