The Kitchen Table - come sit with us! new request added to post 1!

Note#4..
Both.. I mainly write in pen..but i like how a really sharp #2 pencil writes also...

I hate how pencils smear, so I never write with a pencil. I like to use pens with black ink that have a fine tip. A gel pen, preferably, but I'll take what I can get.

In high school I did a self-portrait with charcoal...everyday I would walk out of art class and have to wash my hands because they were just smeared with white and black charcoal. Although, that could be because I'm a slob. When I took painting classes I had more paint on my hands than on the canvas.

Hmmm, I think a mechanical pencil, BUT only if there's a good soft eraser! I use black pen every day at work, so a mechanical pencil with a fine tip is a nice change!

Just stopping by the board right now to say hi to everyone. The weather here in PA is gorgeous, and I really should be outside enjoying the rest of the evening before it's off to bed. Another day of fun and adventures at work awaits me tomorrow!

Does anybody else have that McDonald's song constantly running through their head - "Give me back that Filet of Fish, give me it back... What if that were you hanging up on the wall, what if that were you, you wouldn't like it at all!!!"

EC, I've been thinking about you today.

so sorry. I never answered my own question.

I'm a musician, so we never use pen. It is a sacrilege to write on music with a pen, for the exactly the inverse reason you MUST use a pen in nursing. In nursing, you need a permanent record. In music, what you write must be changeable. The solution to the mysterious problem of creating sonic art from a written manuscript may be quite different tomorrow than it was yesterday.

So, I use a mechanical pencil with No. 7 graphite.

Note #5 -- What was your favorite game as a child?

Mine was a game called Indian Baseball. No idea why the name. I'm sure it wasn't a Native American game. If you had a baseball, a bat, and two people, you could play the game nearly as well as if you had a baseball, a bat, and 30 people. Actually, it might have been more fun with just two. You must play in the street in front of your house (or in front of your friends' houses.) You pitch the ball to yourself, and hit it down the street toward the fielders (everyone else.) First person to get the ball either got to be at bat by catching a fly ball, or walked directly to the center of the street. The person who batted places the bat crosswise on the street by their feet. The fielder with the ball then bowls the ball toward the bat. When the ball hits the bat and bounces up, the batter must catch it to remain at bat. If they miss, the fielder becomes the batter, and the batter joins the fielders. If the fielder misses the bat, the batter remains there for another turn. We played this game for hours and hours, until dark came and we couldn't see the ball.
