Sooo, has no one looked into these yet??? How about reproducing them with stock already here?? I have a roo that crows like a Beatles song played in reverse. Sounds more like a coyote than a roo. Are there any breeds that stutter? Coyote x Stutter = Laugh??
Haha you found the thread! I was looking for it but didn't find it lol. I want some too. My little phx roos make a wierd cockadoodle doo type crow. The orps crow sounds like he is under water kinda a gurgling type of crow. I don't think I have any that stutter though.
I now wish I had kept in contact with the man from Indonesia that I sold two dogs to back in the early '80s! That man was RICHHHHHH! He could've brought some over here, and legally.
We used to have a araucana roo who had a double yelp crow. Sounded like a person falling but did it twice in a row, would have been perfect for this project. What about some of the gray or green junglefowl chicken mixes that sound like a foghorn?
Gosh all my Serama sound like they have a smokers cough!! Cocka doodle Ack Ack Ack....This crow is great! Perfect for waking up on the right side of the bed!
I used to have a cockatiel that did that laughing sound. When he was loose, he would sneak up behind unsuspecting people on the couch, get right by their ear, and start doing the crazy laugh. I have no idea where he learned it, but it was hilarious!
I wonder if those chickens actually breed true for that sound?
There is some kind of crossbreed with a wild jungle fowl that was used by traditional fishermen as a way to keep in touch with other boats. There are also breeds specifically bred for crowing competitions, including one Turkish breed that is now considered a national treasure and has a research facility dedicated to preserving them and making sure that they are bred up to a standard for crowing.
