The laying has begun..

My new hen has been home for just 2 days and she laid her first beautiful perfect egg this morning. Now I'm wondering should I hold this egg or leave it with her on the box because I want her to raise chicks? She showed no signs of wanting to sit on this egg. Is there anything I can do to induce her brood behavior?

No real way to entice, except maybe leave a pile of fake eggs(not real ones).
Broody is a hormonal thing, if it's gonna happen - it'll happen, whether there's eggs in the nest or not.
I assume you have a cock/erel that has mated her?

Yes I have one and he doesn't leave her alone so I'm hoping for some fertile eggs.
