The Legbar Thread!

Has anyone contacted Greenfire about this problem and their responsibility in this tragedy? It seems they should be taking some precautions or maybe are not aware of the problem. Do you know how it begins? Any cure for this LL? Can it be detected before killing off the whole flock?

You should be careful about assigning "responsibility for this tragedy" until you're certain of the origin of this disease in a particular flock. We raise many cream legbars each year. We have seen no symptoms of lymphoid leukosis in our birds, and as part of the importation process our birds are extensively tested by the USDA.

True wrong choice of words.Sorry. Greenfire has a good rep. And here comes the But, I know I would want to know from my clients of possible disease problems happening so I could check with our vet, correct it and see if any of those problems are present to protect my breeders I have and those chicks I would sell.

That was Greenfire Farms that commented to you......

Okay, I as a breeder would still like to know about possible problems with my flock and be elated when I found out they were okay.

I agree! But when I hear of a problem they always assume it is me and not them. Not usually the case... I had one lady contact me 6 months after she got birds and said they both died and she felt like she paid too much. I never had a bird die from the pen she got her birds from so I was pretty confident they got something at her farm. I think it was Mareks..... never heard back from her.

Boy, I've had that happen too. Very frustrating as a breeder when the buyer automatically assumes the issue came from the breeder.
