The Legbar Thread!

I just looked at the GreenFire site. They have dropped their price on the Cream Legbar Female chick from $99.00 to $59.00. Wow! Not sure if that helps anyone else but that is an amazing drop.

Well... I am glad that I got my dozen Assorted Rare Breed Hatching eggs from Greenfire last week. We got several Cream Legbar eggs which is all we were hoping for. We knew it was a gamble since there was no guarantee what breed we would get and they wouldn't take requests. They may not have had any Cream Legbars hatching eggs avialable for the next couple weeks with the increase in sales that they will surley have with the new prices.

Just curious, where did you get the Greenfire eggs?

I have been hearing about people hatching Greenfire eggs too. I have never found a place to get eggs from them on their website.

Maybe these were donations to Chicken Stocks?

The Greenfire hatching eggs were being auctioned at a poultry show. My wife was the high bidder. :) We paid a lot more than we would have paid for a 4+ Cream Legbar Hatching egg auction on Ebay (which is how many Cream Legbars eggs we figured we would get in a best case senerio), but took the chance. We lucked out and got our 4 Cream Legbar eggs. I guess we timed things just right. I hope we have a good hatch. Some more birds from the original lines would really boost our selection for breeding.

So it looks like the recessive white gene has cropped up over in the UK with Legbars there. Below is a picture of a beautiful White Legbar hen!! Wow, is all I can say.

Anyone a member of the Legbar Breeder group on Yahoo? There is some info over there about the UK recessive white gene that started showing up about 2 years ago! All of this info is posted on the group and is very interesting indeed.

Anybody on this thread that lives in the Middle TN area that is interested in some Cream Legbars - 2 hens and 4 roos? They're 5 weeks old now. Rhodebars, too. Or a bunch of Swedish Flower Hen roos (16 weeks old). PM if interested in any of them.

Fascinating! It does seems it could be the same recessive white as the UK. I love the one post that called them "Diamond Legbars"- pretty cool.

How did your hatch go? Did any whites hatch?
