The Legbar Thread!

Is anyone else noticing wry tail in their Legbars? I'm not 100% sure about Lucy, because her tail changes position, but it seems to be in a wry position most of the time now. I had wondered about Blue before he met an untimely demise with a window too.

Does wry tail develop with age, or is it apparent at hatch? I'm thinking about holding on to Lucy just to discover if my Roos possess WW or Ww. But I don't want to grow out a bunch of ww birds, you know?

On the bright side, my three new babies and older cockeral look like their tails are straight and strong!
I've had a both a pullet and a cockerel with suspect tails. The pullet seemed to correct itself with time, while the cockerel was very starboard. I culled him. Both seemed to develop it about 2 to 3 months old. The pullet is now about 6 months old.

Ordered some chicks with Puglady and just picked them up. The Legbars are from their new line. I have 3 girls and 2 boys to add to my flock along with 4 little Jubilee Orps. Excited to see them grow out. I will definitely have to find a way to make 3 pens this year as they should be ready to go for the summer. So excited for this years hatching. Hoping for good luck and everyone making it through the winter.

@ Johnn - I'm so sorry about Melow. I to miss my original Legbar rooster. How I wish he were still here.

PAR-TAY!!!!!!

Congrats! How exciting you got the new line!

I'm getting a full-grown quad from the lady that sold me two pair of CLs a few months ago. I pick them up Saturday! Very excited!

They didn't, naughty naughty.
Blackbirds13 and I are both super excited for our new babies and my original ones started laying 2 days ago!

Congrats on everyone's new birds! So exciting and I can't wait to see pics.

I'll keep an eye on Lucy. Her tail is not way off...she just alternates between holding it straight and slightly to the left. It would be awesome if it corrected itself!

I wish someone would post there that the male headspot is how you tell the male, so to take it away?? What? Let's see -- male white headspot indicates male Cream Legbar chick..(along with a more diffused stripe and lack of eyeliner) - Take away the indicator, now tell me if it is a male. What??? ??? ????

I don't want to reopen this can of worms...but since that is the indicator of a male chick, and since it isn't removed in real-life-- What is the point of sexing a male chick, who's indicator is a headspot, without the headspot. Don't EVEN reply--- please, I just wanted to say this. Wish I could have posted in that other forum.
