The Legbar Thread!

I hope blackbirds tells us her secret. I know which male chick down i wouldnt trust but ive got a cream rooster from a chick as dark as the female you posted a pic of happless.

I think the color of chick down should probably be as close to the what the UK people pick for color as possible. Right down to females with a light head spot
me too, she has some of the best colored males I have seen so far, also some that appear to be light barred with uneven breast barring, so I would be glad if she could remember if the dark males turned out to be the ones with the dark breasts and if the light males turned out to be the ones with light beast and overall grey barring tone

I think they were pretty dark. This is the best i have for a picture

I wasnt going to use him anymore but ill think ill take the cream hen that produces good males and try to get some light colored boys that have good chest barring. Ive decided im going to do some double breeding this year and next. Maybe even two more years till im getting what i want then ill mix the the two lines into one

Where did you get that gorgeous hen on the far left?
That is my "Luck of Draw" pullet from an eBay auction. This pullet was the best in breed when I showed five CLBs in November. The breeder received a lot of grief from folks on BYC because of high bid prices and CLB rooster with a floppy comb. I am still in contact with her and we have exchanged many stories, etc. I personally have had a great experience with her. At this time she has not authorized the release of her identity.

if you look at their wing triangle, they seem to be gold based and most likely heterozygous for the cream gene, I have seen birds like this producing nice cream colored birds too, so if thats all you have, I would take care of them very well

Thank you, #2 actually has very little gold on him. He is more blonde the picture just don't do him justice. I have two cockerel's one hen and two pullets.
