Chapter Seventy Nine

A cold breeze swept over the aviary. The spotlight shining on the flower closed up into darkness.
I shivered, reminding myself how late it is into the fall. It would be winter soon.
The thought paniced me. I can't survive out here in the winter! And apparently... I won't. And what about my torn up wings?
Aqua, you're right, I thought, there's no way I can survive here.
The clouds suddenly parted to let in the sun. I crouched on the dirt, staring.
Suddenly, a shape burst out of the sun, its outline shone with the blazing sun and it was golden, shiny, sparkly.
I couldn't tell what shape it was because I had to close my eyes to prevent me from being blinded.
Then suddenly, I saw.
It was a bird.
Tipping it's wings gracefully, the bird flew down towards me, going straight through the aviary.
I began to see it's true color. Not gold, but blue! And in that special shade...
I couldn't breathe.
Aqua landed in front of me.
"A...aqua?" I stuttered.
"It's not your time yet," Aqua chirped, her voice like singing silk, "But it is soon."
I gulped. This, I knew, and there wasn't anything I could do about it.
"I wanted to ask you to do something for me," Aqua pleaded.
"Anything," I would do anything for her.
"Can you take that flower," Aqua pointed her beak to the blue flower, "And plant it in that meadow over there?"
"Yes, of course, but why?" I was confused.
"I want us to always be together. You'll see. When your time comes." Then she vanished.
Breathlessly, I dug the flower out, roots and all, and ever so gently, I put it in my beak.
My wing dragging, I crawled into the meadow, and dug a shallow scrape with my claws.
Gently, I stuck the flower there, and covered the hole with dirt.
The flower drooped slightly at first, but straightened up as if Aqua was holding it in her beak.
It has been done. What now?
