Chapter Thirty Two

It was so very nice to have a snuggle buddy again. It was winter now, and a bit cold to be sleeping alone, even inside.
I soon learned that the human who owned us wasn't going to play with us much, he took each pair out together for a minute or two, then returned them, and went on to another. There were six pairs of budgies that he had.
I opened my eyes a slit, and looked outside my cage. It was night, and everything was normal. I closed my eyes again, and dug deeper into Clouds' feathers.
Suddenly, I reopened them. Clouds woke up.
I looked outside.
"What is it?" Clouds asked sleepily.
"Look outside," I said quietly, trying not to wake the other budgies.
"What about outside?" Clouds didn't seem to care much.
"That white stuff..."
"Oh, that." Clouds chirped understandingly, and as if he knew everything.
"What?"
"It's called 'snow'" Clouds explained.
"Snow," I repeated.
"Yeah. It's cold, and it falls from the sky in winter."
"Falls from the sky? How can anything fall from the sky?"
"I don't know. It just does," And he fell asleep.
I stayed up for a few more minutes to look at the snow.
"Snow," I said again, "Snow."

~The next morning~

"So Clouds," I chirped, "What exactly do you do with snow?"
"Stuff," Clouds was busy stuffing himself with millet.
"What kind of stuff?"
"Well," He began.
"Wait a minute, how do you know?"
"You seem very curious." He said, as if he were stalling.
"I am. Just tell me, ok?"
"You really want to know?"
I stared at him.
"Ok, you'll find out. First wing. Soon enough."
