Chapter Twenty Six
Well, I can say we got settled at home, but that would be a lie. The humans constantly scare me with the mom yelling at the girl, and the girl crying her head off. My feathers are as sucked in as I could get them to be. After about twenty minutes, I got used to all the chaos, and started preening, though I was still constantly interrupted by something being thrown on the ground near my cage in anger.
Sometimes I think humans have mental problems.
Anyway, the rest of the day went on with a storm above everyone's head, as quiet as it was, though I chirped happily when everyone settled down.
The girl took me out of the cage, and I came willingly.
I hopped onto the windowsill with the screen on, and peered outside. A few house sparrows were hopping around and chirping to each other. I chirped to them. They glanced in my direction, and chirped back.
"Hello!" I chirped once I got their attention
"And hello to you, too," One of them chirped back politely.
"So what is it like to be wild?" I asked them.
"What is it like to belong to a human?" One of the younger ones replied.
"It's great! It just depends on who is owning you," I chirped, reluctant to reveal too many details.
"Whado you mean?" The same one asked.
"Well," I pondered how much I should say, "That girl just made me sick,"
"Oh."
"Don't you get sick?" I was curious.
"Um," One of them said, "Not really."
Then, the human scooped me up.
"Back to your cage, then!" She said cheerily.
"Bye!" I chirped to the sparrows from my cage.
I hopped to my water bowl, and drank some water. Then, I flew to my swing.
"Hello!" I said happily in human.
I was a very happy bird at that time.
Then, I looked in my mirror, and chirped for a few minutes. I liked my wild bird friends.
