Chapter Twenty Nine
The human brought me to the same building I went to when I was sick.
Being outside reminded me of the sparrows. I was sad that I never got to see them again.
I chirped, trying to find some new friends, but before I could see anybird else, I was brought inside.
The same old woman was behind the wooden human thing that they put thin pieces of wood on.
"So you got her back."
"Yes, I did, and the abusive lady is going to jail."
"Good."
"Yes, so we have three apparently responsible budgie owners who wants one/another budgie."
"Ok,"
"Apple will be given to the first one who signed up on our waiting list."
I climbed onto my cage bars to get a better view.
"Right, so I'll call them about Apple, and you can send her over in a few minutes," She finished.
"Sounds good!" That was the first time that person seemed happy.
He put my cage down on the wooden human thing.
The woman picked up a shiny white thing, and pressed a few buttons on it. She held it to her head, and waited.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Hello!" I said, happy to see that she also knew that word.
She smiled at me.
"I have a budgie that you can adopt, and she apparently talks!"
She waited.
"Yes, she said hello to me just now."
Again, she waited.
"Ok, we'll bring her over in just a second."
She put the thing down.
"You're finally going to a responsible family, Apple!" She said to me happily.
I cocked my head and chirped at her.
She just laughed, and yelled at the other person to do something.
