Chapter Thirty
Oh, the bumpy old ride, starting again. I've begun to get used to it. And I knew what it means.
A new home.
I couldn't help wondering what it would be like. I hoped it would be like the first one I had, because it was the best to far.
I guess I'll find out.
We got into the shiny red thing that moves humans again, and the human put me on a seat.
The thing rumbled, and we were off. After a few minutes, it stopped. My feathers were still flat from the bumpy experience.
The human took my cage out, walked up to the door, and pressed a button. A short tune rang inside.
"Come in!" A cheery voice shouted from inside.
I was carried in, and the first thing I saw was a male human staring at me.
"Oh, so you have my budgie! Wonderful!" He said just as cheerily.
I looked around. Everything was a warm brown color.
"And you will take proper care of this bird?" The person who was carrying me asked.
"Oh yes."
"I'll leave her here, then." He said, and left.
After he left, my new owner said to me, "Oh, so you're my birdie!"
He paused and studied me.
"Just a cinnamon light green?"
I cocked my head at him.
"Ok, I guess they'll work. At least you're a girl."
I didn't know what he was talking about, but I knew he wasn't completely happy with me.
"What's wrong?" I chirped, concerned.
He just laughed, and picked my cage up.
"You'll be with the other keets,"
He walked into a room with lots of other budgies like me. They climbed onto the bars of their cages to get a better look at me.
I still sensed something wrong.
He didn't like me as much as the other birds, but why?
