Chapter Thirty One

The human put me in a cage with another budgie, a male opaline cinnamon recessive pied.
I looked around nervously. There wasn't much toys, but that's ok, because I had another budgie to talk to.
"Hello!" I chirped to him
"Hi." He didn't sound very happy to see me.
"So... what's your name?"
"Clouds,"
"Oh." His non-talkative mood was catching on.
I looked around for a water bowl, and hopped to it when I found one. After taking a few sips, I went to explore the rest of my cage.
There was a mirror just like the one in my old cage. I also found a bell and a shredding toy. That was it.
"Not much toys..." I said to myself.
"That's because we don't need much toys!" Clouds surprised me with an almost angry answer
"Huh?"
"Don't you know? That human has us for breeding! We don't obsess over toys."
"WHAT?"
"You heard me."
"But I don't want to breed! Chicks can be so annoying sometimes! Why does he even want me? I'm such a plain color..."
"You'll just have to accept it, I guess. I didn't want to breed either, but since you came, I have to."
"Is that why you're so grumpy?" I asked, just to make him mad.
To my surprise, he wasn't.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to be," He whistled.
"It's ok! I know what you're thinking," I chirped back.
"So, where are you from?" He asked much happier.
"Well..." I chirped, and began to tell my story.
I didn't want to breed, but it might not be such a bad thing!
