Chapter Thirty Three

I woke up super early just like I did the day Polly was going to teach me to talk. I woke Clouds up, too.
"What is it?" He asked sleepily.
"How am I going to find out all that stuff about snow if we just sleep all day?" I demanded.
"We can't do it now."
"Why not?"
"You'll see."
"I'm tired of waiting. Why can't you just tell me?"
"Because I want to sleep."
"Is that why I have to wait?"
"No, you wanted to know why I can't tell you"
"I'm tired of arguing."
"That makes two of us."
I sighed, and went back to sleep.
He was apparently just not going to tell me.
After sleeping for a few more hours, I asked Clouds again.
"Just wait until the person gets us out," He chirped patiently.
"Ok," I didn't feel like arguing.
So I had to wait three boring hours for the human to play with us.
Then, Clouds said, "Follow me," and flew off his hand.
"Hey, come back, bird!" The human said, desperately trying to get him back.
I flew off, too, while I had the chance, and followed Clouds.
The door was open. I think I knew where he was going with this.

Chapter Thirty Four

Clouds ran out the door as fast as his short budgie legs would carry him.
I followed, aware that I was waddling like a duck.
We were outside. Clouds was right that it was cold. It was freezing!
I puffed up my feathers to keep warm.
"This is snow," Clouds said, looking at a white heap.
"Oh!" I chirped, and dove into the pile.
I wiggled around until I was completely covered.
The door closed behind us.
"Uh oh," I chirped, "How are we going to get back in?"
"Don't worry, I know a way."
"So how does it fall from the sky?"
"I told you, I don't know!"
"You never told me that!"
"Um, yes I did."
"Whatever. That's not important. So how does it fall from the sky?"
"I DON'T KNOW"
"I was talking to myself."
I looked up. Little flakes were drifting down slowly. One fell on my eye.
"Hey!" I screeched, and tried to get it out.
Clouds laughed.
I grabbed some snow with my foot, took off, and when I was just over him, dropped it.
"Who has snow in their eye now?" I challenged.
Clouds just bounced to another part of the flat rock we were playing on, and grabbed a fist full of snow.
"Oh no you don't!" He chirped.
I took off, and flew to the ceiling.
"Haha!"
Clouds was just about to go after me when I exclaimed, "Clouds!"
"What?"
"No, not you. Clouds!"
"Huh?" Clouds didn't get it.
"Can't you see? That's the answer! I've got it!"
