Chapter 12

"It's a pond!" I screamed
We all cheered and rushed towards it. We drank galloons of water for a while. Man, was I thirsty!
When we were done we went on with our journey. It felt around in the 90's for temperature. I panted and panted and was starting to get hungry.
"Hey let's take a break and go catch some bugs. I'm getting hungry." I said.
"I agree," said Pepper.
We caught mosquitos, dragonflies, beettles, worms, and other bugs. That was enough to make my crop happy for a bit. I moved on. The sun was directly above us so it was around 12:00 o'clock.
"We should be there soon...." Ethel said, "I remember seeing this little clearing."
We were emtionless. So tired....
Now it was 2 hours later.... Where is that coop!?
"Hey what's that over there?" Pepper said.
I squinted. "Ummm, uhhhh, looks like some type of animal."
"What animal?" Ethel said with edge.
"Ummm, I don't know. I can't see from here, but it is coming towards us. But slowly. I think it doesn't see us." I said.
"It's brown." Ethel said.
"Yes it is," I agreed. "Umm.... Oh no. It looks like a bear! But a baby bear!"
I could tell Ethel and Pepper screamed in their minds.
"Whatever you do," I said calmly. "Do-not-run. They will come after us and catch up to us."
We slowly backed up. The bear didn't see us. It was eating some kind of meat. A fox?
I was whispering now, "Move to the side very slowly and once we are out of sight run like the wind!"
