Chapter 25

I woke. Where's the hawk? I looked around, then I silently got down to the ground. I looked up at the sky. The hawk! I ran to a different tree to keep me protected. Gosh I hope he didn't see me!
The flapping stopped. I was getting nervous. I slowly took steps to the clearing and looked up. Nothing was in the sky. Why is this bird flapping all the time!? What is it looking for!?
I relaxed a tiny bit but I still knew that bird was somewhere. I ran back to my tree and when I got there I looked all around and up at the sky. No flapping. I then went out to the clearing and drank more water, still catious.
Where was that hawk!? It was scaring me a little.
All the sudden something swooped up and pulled a bunch of feathers out of me. The hawk! I ran up into a tree. A pine tree and hid. I hope my babies will be alright from the time I'm gone.
About 5 minutes later the flapping noise up above was going on again. I slowly went back over to my tree and hopped up all the way to my babies. I stayed here for the rest of the day while the flapping still went on above me.

It was evening now and the flapping stopped. Maybe he went back home to rest. I hope!
My stomache was growling. I was begining to get hungry.
Okay. I will only get down for 5 minutes to eat. No later! I rushed all the way down and tried catching some bugs. I hardly caught any and my 5 minutes were up. I slumped back to my nest and decided to sleep for the rest of the night.
