The Middle Tennessee Thread

First, THANKS for all the support & offers!
You are all so very nice, and it really is helpful to be able to post here and know that nobody is laughing at me when I'm upset b/c I've had a rash of poultry disasters/losses.
It is nice to know other ppl understand the effort and attachment that went into those birds, esp. losing the first Chicken & the first Goose I ever hatched from my incubator all on the same week.

So I just realized my Avatar is the NYDH chicks, Beaker (the MaranxAme roo I lost) & KandyKane the maran pullet.
I just have to post the pictures, b/c Beaker was that magnificently pretty:

I do still have KandyKane (so named b/c she came from egg K & that was the best name ppl on the NYDH thread could come up w/ for K)

So I'm pm folks tomorrow re: the offers. It is really late & I need to go get some sleep time now...

I read that u can make a sling/diaper thing to help keep it in how does that work and how do I make it
I hadn't heard that so I have no idea. I know that veterinarians sometimes can use stitches to hold things in place but it has to be part of a sterilization procedure because they cannot lay like that.

Okay- I am getting out of birds entirely.-----

We have 7 Black East Indies drakes- could go on a pond or a dinner table. Though they are bantam... they ate too much and way overgrew the show size. Really they look like Cayugas. Free to whomever wants them.-----

11 Sebastopol geese- 2 adult males, 4 adult females, 4 teenage girls and 1 fluffy little girl. They are all white, all curly breasted, Holderreads, Pips and Peeps, Dorothy Thomas are part of their bloodlines. All are friendly, most will eat out of your hand. All but 1 was hatched here so they are very people orientated. 1 goose is sitting a lone egg that we believe may have hatched. She was trying to feed the lone silkie chick escapee grass the other day. Very good mother. They must go together. I don't think I could bear looking at the flock with some of them missing. $700, which is a deal. Will consider payments and trades for something that does not eat. Am supposed to get a gander from Pips and Peeps later in the year, willing to talk to her about the new owner getting the gander instead of me so you could have a really great bonus.-----

Silkies probably have a home----
English Orps are still waiting to go to their new home--- Donna can you take them in yet?-----

Call ducks- 1 snowy hen and 1 unsure of sex white, both are this year's hatch. May not let them go just yet but it is possible with the right offer. They belong to my daughter.-----

1 American Orpington hen- thinks she is a dog and needs to go to a pet home.-----

1 OEGB silver duckwing hen- once again a big pet and in the Orp aboves shadow. Must go to a pet home. They are both hand fed spoiled rotten walk into the house if the door is open girls.-----

1 mini flock of wheaten/blue wheaten OEGBs. 3 hens and 1 roo. All of the hens have been shown and placed in their classes. We also have a handfull of chicks running around that came from this flock- I think at last count 3-5 chicks. More are in the incubator and should be hatching 1st of next week. Whatever hatches will go with the others. These are tentatively up as they are my son's.-----

2 Great Pyrenees. Both male. Father and son. 7+ and will be 2 in Dec yrs old. Both are intact. The older male can't be with poultry. Younger male has never seen poultry. Both are great with goats and horses. $125 each but will make a deal if you take the boys together.-----

Horse- registered Arabian mare. 7 yrs old. Green broke. Still needs some work with water and when you kick it up into high gear she likes to crow hop. Is good with goats and dogs. My 13 yr old rides around on her without tack. Just sitting and letting the horse wander around mostly but you can see she is gentle. $500----- Will also have an old saddle and bridle if you need one that can just go with her.-----

If there isn't a price, it is because I don't know what to ask. PM me and we will talk.-----

Anne- Obviously I don't need anymore birds so don't worry about meeting up in regards to another hen. We can always meet up to do lunch though :)

Revision to above-
Silkies are still in need of a home: 2 white roos (direct from Aimee Crego purchase for one and hatched from eggs bought from Robin of Summertown for the other). 4 hens (3 are my lines - when I had a bigger flock, 1 direct purchase from Vickie Harry). 2 chicks out of the above birds. 1 buff hen from our very own CityGirl and 1 chick from some bought eggs that is a really weird color. Some have been shown and 2 have gone all the way to grand champion junior bird at the shows we have attended. I know they will do really well in most junior shows and with some more work, could be competitive in the open shows. PM about pricing- I don't plan on letting them go super cheap but am willing to work a deal as long as they are going someplace great.

Forgot to add we are NPIP

Lori yes i can get them now. Amy took some birds that needed to be retirered lol. Let me do some moving and i will ready first of next week. It is hard for me to start a pm but i might want your odd silkies if you will sell them sep from your show birds. Pm me and we can work it out. I will start moving everyone today for the orps.

Sorry you are having to do all this.......hugs and kisses.

Hi Lori!
My husband is drooling over the thought of more geese, but we don't have anything to bargain with at the moment. Except custom furniture, which is probably the last thing you need. I have put the word out to a few people that really want the whites though.
