The Middle Tennessee Thread

I have some 8 week old buff orps, barred rocks and a couple of welsummers. I hadn't planned on selling them until spring, but I'm always happy to be a chicken enabler. :) PM me if you are interested.

I just wanted to say thank you for the buff orp and the barred rock.  They are doing great and they are getting along very well with the houdan/silkie chick I put them with.  The buff orp, Peggy, tucks her underneath of herself when they go to sleep so she is staying very warm!  Peggy might be a broody hen one day.  The barred rock, Liza, is determined to get out and run the yard every time I go to feed them.  They're great!  Thank you so very much.

You are so very welcome. Glad I could enable... er... help. :)
Peggy tucking the baby up under herself is adorable. Orps are so sweet. Love it!

Both of my roosters found awesome homes yesterday! Very excited that they will both still have some ladies to hang around with and will be able to get out and free range. Tess is the best! She let their new owners know that they have to be spoiled and she gave them her number and mine in case things don't work out but I don't foresee any issues. They're both great birds!

Since she helped me out so much with the roos, I'm going to help her out with her elderly Easter Egger that is being a little bullied by her Polish flock. Seven year old Consuela will be coming to live with my nice birds this week. The RIR, my resident bully, will still be by herself....subborn #$@#%$#!!

After what seems like forever, we got the first egg from our little white silkie, Daisy today. Now we only have two slackers and the rest coming out of moult. Hopefully they will all get in sync by spring.

Hello everybody!
I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the season so far. I have been sand bagging in the thread for some time. I still haven't gotten set back up with chickens so I don't have much to contribute at the time.
Anyhew, my 11 year old has put turkey eggs on his Christmas list. I'm wondering if any of you know anybody that might sell me some. I'd like to get him 6 or 8 that he could incubate. I work from Kingston Springs to New Johnsonville, but I'll drive anywhere in the mid state to get them for him. This kid doesn't ask for much, so I'm really trying to make this happen for him.
Thanks in advance,
Sam

HEY SAM! I hope you find some. I don't know anyone with turkeys.

How are you doing? Have things settled down some for you guys????

We are doing well overall Donna. My nextdoor neighbor has the chickens I hatched from your eggs. I plan to get some eggs from them in the spring and try again. The great pyrenees I got to watch them just hangs out over there with them. LOL.
We are pretty much settled back in now, but I'm on my 5th job already this year. I decided after the fire that I wouldn't ever again have a job I hate. So I don't have the pens rebuilt yet. With this "do over" I'm going to get everything right that I didn't like before.
I need to talk to you though about the worms... best way to get started with them. Both the boys have bearded dragons now and I'm buying those things a LOT!
